I believe in giving credit where credit is due.

One day while swiping through Pinterest I stumbled upon a tumblr post , which was combined with a FB post, with the most incredible idea! ( tumblr people are amazingly brilliant btw) The person responsible for the prompt of this novel has the screen name 'Welcome to Night Vale''. Thank you so much for being the brilliant person you are.

That aside please do not steal anything within the novel itself. The story itself is original !!

ENJOY!

(Alina Ross)

'Screw this! How hard can it be to build a fire!?' I furiously rub the flanks of wood together. 'They do it all the time in those survival shows!! '

I toss the sticks in frustration. 'I knew those shows were rigged!' I frantically rub my hands together in an attempt to keep warm.

I laugh inwardly at myself and my ridiculous circumstances. Here I am, a young woman who just six months ago was the daughter of powerful business franchise CEOs, am now squatting over a pile of wood, in an abandoned building, on a cold November night.

I stand up and began doing my routine jumping jacks to keep myself from freezing over.

At least I'll have abs by the end of this.

I let my mind wander as I try not to think of the pain in my lower back, which is probably the result of sleeping on the cement floor, something my spoiled ass has never encountered before, therefore has not built up a tolerance to.

My rhythmic panting sets the pace for my thoughts to flow back to the past six months...

"ALINA!!" the screeching sound of my sister's voice pulls me out of the bliss that was my slumber.

"Yes beautiful?" I reply with a smile and closed eyes. I've always been a morning person, they were my most productive hours, the peace and quiet, the coffee, pancakes...breakfast food items in general, were always a joy.

My smile widens at the thought of food and my stomach shows that it agrees with my thoughts by responding with something that was the semblance to whale's mating call.

I slowly start to sit up when a sudden grasp around my arm pulled me with enough force to launch me off my bed, as well as from my good mood.

"LISTEN HERE YOU GOOD-FOR-NOTHING , C*CK-SUCKING, SPAWN OF THE DEVIL'S ARSE-" I began but was interrupted.

"You are the-c*ck sucker!!How could you do this to me!?" Carla's voice cuts me off. Pain and betrayal dripped from her last sentence.

"The hell are you talking about you psycho-b*tch?" I retort staring up at her from my position on the ground.

I can only see her out of one eye..

I silently curse myself, realizing I've slept in my contacts again.

One must've fallen out.

Barely acknowledging Carla's shouts of blasphemy, I stand and shuffle my sheets in attempt to find my left contact. A sharp pain on my left cheek startles me into taking several steps back. -By the way-I would've been able to dodge such an attack if it didn't so happen to be my blind side. I turn on my heel to retaliate, and just as I was about to launch myself at her like the majestic jungle cat I was born to be, my mother's voice stops me mid-flight.
