My makeup was uneven, my hair refused to stay straightened and I wore these jeans on Tuesday. Three of the problems I had this morning. I guess it's not as bad as what other people have gone through. I probably shouldn't care that much about my appearance, I've already got a boyfriend and plenty of friends so I don't need to worry about that. I'm just worried about the other girls in school. When you're as popular as I am, girls will use any small otherwise unnoticeable flaw to tear you down. I groan and throw the straightener onto the sink pulling the plug out. I guess it's my natural wavy hair today. At least it's Friday.
As I go to put my contact in my phone rings. I drop the contact and swear under my breath. Good thing my parents aren't around. It's probably Amy or David texting me. Most likely David. Since he's my boyfriend he finds it necesary to text me when I wake up, during class, after school, and right before I go to sleep. It's sweet, but annoying when you're trying to get ready or learn. I get a new contact from my extra stash and pop it in, then exit the bathroom while pulling out my phone.
David:
Good morning beauty
I blush at his text, even though I shouldn't. Quickly I type back something he will hopefully see as romantic and hurry downstairs. I don't want to be late for breakfast, even if it's something small. Downstairs Aaron is already at the table making conversation with dad. I don't know what they're talking about and I don't really care. Mom is in the kitchen, so I walk in to see her.
"Morning Mom." I smile at her giving her a hug.
"Careful honey I'm cooking." She reminds me.
"Oops!" I release her from my hug.
"Did you manage to finish your physics project?" She asks.
"Of course I did who do you think I am, Aaron?" I joke.
"Hey I heard that!" Aaron calls, "I usually finish my projects on time."
"If by on time you mean three days late then yeah, on time." Dad chimes in. Aaron gives him a glare as me and mom laugh. "I'm just joking with you." Dad adds.
"I know that." Aaron tells getting up to put his dishes in the sink.
"Arra, there's a plate on the table for you. I managed to stop your father from trying to eat but I'm not sure I can hold him off much longer. Go eat it now." Mom mentions. I laugh and go to sit at the tabke with dad. My phone rings as I sit down.
David
I can't wait until second period when I get to see you again
I go to reply back but dad interputs me.
"No phones at the table. You know we have rules about that." Dad reminds.
"Sorry." I say putting it away.
"Who are you texting anyway?" He asks.
"David." I reply. Dad rolls his eyes.
"Him again? I thought you broke up with him." Dad says. I swallow what I'm eating before replying.
"No. You must be thinking of Shelby. I told you she broke up with Darren last week." I say.
"I can't keep track of all your friends and their boyfriends." Dad says rubbing his temple.
"Can someone please go get Ella and Tira out of bed? I swear those two kids are the laziest people I've met." Mom murmurs.
"I'm on it." I say picking up my empty plate and bringing it to my mom. Just then my dad's phone rings and he takes it out.
"Hey, no phones at the table." I joke.
