The Letter

I was in such a great mood, the next morning. I raced downstairs with my backpack full of dirty laundry, I had on my hoodie and a pair of light blue board shorts. I put my back pack on my back, my white sneakers on and grabbed my skateboard. I skated to the nearest laundrette. At 7am the roads were very quiet, almost silent. It was peaceful and very nice, next to nature and watching nature at its finest. It was so amazing, it's something that you don't witness often and it's a moment that you cherish as you watch animals roam free before rush hour. The launderette was not that far, although I wouldn't have minded because the peacefulness and beautiful landscape allowed me to be calm and focus on the surroundings and where I was going.

I emptied my backpack into the washing machine, on the top was a brown envelope. I took it out and stuffed it in my pocket. I quietly washed my clothes, keeping a close eye, eventhough there were few people inside. I read the horrible headlines, it was always the same, celebrities spiralling out of control or some world conflict on Earth. There were a few columns, sex advice and advice in general. I watched as the machine came to an end before i transported all clothing inside, into a tumble drier. for an hour I sat waiting on my clothes. I read my letter to myself.

Dear Mr Robert Dean, I am aware you use the Florida Championship Wrestling facilities for training, this organisation is in close networks with the World Wrestling Entertainment. I am also aware you have signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, now Impact Wrestling. I am sorry to inform you that when you sign with Florida Championship Wrestling, you sign a temporary contract with World Wrestling Entertainment, during this time you are free to train until you have been videoed for Mr Vincent McMahon to approve. I am sorry that I must inform you that you have been signed to the World Wrestling Entertainment and have been for two months, you will appear on the show, NXT as Seth Rollins' rookie as we bring back NXT rookie and mentor for one season, from then you will appear on Smackdown as part of 3MB. You have to stay with World Wrestling Entertainment for one year, we then release you and you are free to do as you please. This contract is in full swing as soon as you appear in my office, we will be forced to terminate your contract with both companies if you do not appear in my office by 16/01/34.

Yours sincerely

Vincent K. McMahon

I was going to have to call Callan to tell him. Callan is my best friend, we met in high school and he guided me away from trying to get attention for the wrong reasons. We've been interested in wrestling for years, we trained and teamed together in local shows. He trained with a different company than I did, but that's only because he had to take care of his mother and his brother. We had planned to enter Impact Wrestling at the same time to team up together and so we knew someone. Little did I know that when I signed with FCW, I was automatically representing WWE and couldn't accept anymore contracts. I looked over the letter once more before realising the date, 16th January 2023, that was today. Luckily they were in Raleigh today. Once my clothes were dry in carefully folded them before putting them in my backpack. When I was outside I began my journey home on my skateboard. I called Jeff. "Jeff." I panicked. "Yeah?" He asked. "When I trained with FCW for a month when I went on holiday to Florida about a month ago. I signed a contract with WWE for a year. I have to go and see Mr McMahon tonight or my career will be over." I was frantically shouting. Jeff was silent. Either he'd hung up or I'd lost my reception.

That night I had Jeff drive me to the arena, I wore my suit and had my backpack which had my attire inside. I walked straight to his office. I was completely nervous, especially when I got a few weird looks from the wrestlers. I slowly knocked on his door. "Come in." A deep voice said loudly from behind the door. I slowly opened the door. "Mr McMahon, I received your letter. I am Robert Dean." I extended my hand over his desk. "Thank you for coming. I explained everything in the letter, first I just wanted you to take a moment to fill out this form." He explained. "I would like you to sit in the locker room, fill out the form and meet the superstars you will be working with." He showed me to the locker room. Everybody's heads turned as Mr McMahon followed me in. "Everybody, this is Robert Dean, known by the persona of Reuben Thunder. He is joining NXT as Seth Rollins' rookie and he will then appear on Smackdown." He explained. Everybody in the locker room shook my hand, The Miz, Big E Langston, Conor O'Brien and many others. I sat in the corner filling out the form:

Real Name: Robert Dean

Age: 24

Hometown: Raleigh, North Carolina

Birth Date: 08/06/2010

Closest Contacts: Jeff Hardy: *insert number*

Background: Straight Edge but my family are alcoholics and drug addicts and have been all my life. I've been training since I was ten years old, with Matt and Jeff Hardy. I'm very shy, but have great confidence and I have no problems talking in front of a crowd.

Stage Name: Reuben Thunder

Persona: Bad guy who enters on his skateboard.

As soon as I was finished, I left my backpack in the locker room and walked down to Mr McMahon's office. I knocked on the door and waited. "I'll take that, you go get ready, you're in a gauntlet match against The Shield." He whispered as he opened the door. I ran back to the locker room to get ready. I slipped off the jacket, undid the tie and slipped off my shirt. I tied my hair back and pulled on my t-shirt. I then pulled off my shoes and pants and pulled on my tights and laced up my boots. I pulled on my gloves as I walked out the door. I had my skateboard attached to my backpack, so I knew where it was and just in case I had a match. I didn't take it because I knew what was happening. I raced to Mr McMahon's office. "Great." He opened the door leading the way to the curtain. "Watch the screen, The Shield will come out and brag about how nobody can beat them, I will then introduce you." He explained. Everything was going to plan. "So you've beaten everyone, I know that you haven't. Ladies, gentlemen and children, welcome Reuben Thunder." He introduced me. Drew McIntyre handed me my skateboard as my music played. I ran out onto the stage and skated down the ramp, jumping off my board as I watched it disappear under the ring. "This match is scheduled for one fall and is a gauntlet match." Justin Roberts was cut short by Mr McMahon. I looked Roman Reigns in the eyes, I watched as he advanced towards me, I dodged a clothesline and spun him round a few times before hitting him with a DDT. I bounced off the second rope hitting a lionsault. He reversed my running elbow and power bombed me from the top rope. I felt ill, somehow I managed to watch him scream, I crawled behind him and caught him in a schoolboy pin. "1...2...3." He was out and in ran Dean Ambrose. Immediately I threw him over my head and raced to the top rope for a 450 splash, I hit it. He got up slowly before I dived at him with a spear, I hit the turnbuckle post instead. He turned me round to DDT me, I avoided that as I tried a lionsault. He reversed it into a quick pile driver. I was feeling the worst of their moves. It wasn't until Ambrose wanted to make sure I was done, I reversed his pile driver into a hurricanrana pin. Rollins was the last on my list. This was the hardest match I've ever done. I was done, I was torn apart and felt like I was about to die. He was performing move after move until Ambrose tried to enter the ring, distracting Rollins, letting me capitalise and pin him. The three then tried to proceed to put me in hospital. "You might not want to do that. Seth Rollins will appear on NXT with his rookie, Reuben Thunder." In the midst of a chokeslam, I was dropped. Only time will tell. I got my first pay check that night, I bought clothes for the tour and a laptop for Skype. I was ready.
