3rd. P.O.V: It was nearing January in London. The air was cold and bitter and people stayed inside. Now our story begins outside of London at a house number four on Private Drive. If you look closely you can see a small boy standing by a tree.

Harry: 'I'm fucked!'  I think to myself. Uncle Vermon saw me try and sneak a Christmas cookie and chained my out front to the tree. I look up and see snow start to fall. I would be at Hogwarts but, NO, my aunt and uncle wanted me home to cook and clean for there Christmas party. I'm gonna die if I stay here much longer. I feel my hand and it's completely numb. I slip it out, most likely breaking my wrist in the process. I run for it. I'm not sure where I'm running but I know I just have to. The snow starts to fall faster and before I know it I can't see. That's how I didn't see the person who was on the sidewalk and ran into them.

Severus: I was out in front of my house laying down rock salt when this kid ran into my back. I was just about to turn and yell at the kid when the words die in my throat. I notice the kid was inappropriately dressed for the weather. His wrist look like something was around it for a very long time. He also looked blue in some places. I look closer and I see a blob of brown hair and a hint of green eyes. "Mr. Potter?"

Harry: I look up at the sound of my name to see my potions professor. "Professor Snape?"

Severus: "Mr.Potter, do pray tell, what you are doing in this weather dressed like this?"

Harry: "I...uh...I'm" I stumble over my words. How do I tell him anything? Oh, I'm dressed like this because I had to quickly run away from my uncle who chained my to a tree.' Yeah, not gonna go over well. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of my uncles voice,

Vermon: "Where are you little freak? Think you can get away with out punishment?" I shout through the streets with rage.

Harry: I look back at my potions professor and cling to his robes. "Please, you have to help me. I can't go back there." I'm soon surrounded by darkness.

Severus: After Harry passes out I quickly scoop the child into mu arms. I take not of how light he is. I just closed the door when a figure appeared in the street. I laid him down on the couch and cover him with the thickest blankest I own. I turn into the kitchen to prepare some tea.

Harry: When I came to the first thing I took note of was I was surrounded by warmth. I wanted to remain there with my eyes closed, but the events of earlier came rushing back to me and I bolted straight up, and became a little light headed from it.I jump a little at the feeling of someone touching my shoulder.

Severus: I just walked back into the living room with the tea tray when the Potter boy shot straight up. I set down the tea set and gently lay my hand on his shoulder. He gives a sudden jump at my touch. In the light from the fireplace I can see the boys face is tear stained and beaten as if hit with something. 'He didn't look like that when he left for break' "How are you feeling?"

Harry: I'm taken aback by the softness of his voice. "I feel fine. Just really cold." I burry back into the covers. Next thing I know a tea cup is placed in front of my face. The steam from the cup feels so good on my face, and I drink I down thankful for the warmth.

Severus: I sit and watch as the child before me enjoys a simple cup of tea like he was just crowned king. I notice the marks around his wrist again. "Harry?" He turns to look at me with worried eyes. "How did you get these?" I ask as I point to his wrist.

Harry: I lower my eyes and answer. "My uncle sir. I tried to eat a Christmas cookie because I didn't eat anything all week. He caught me and chained me to the tree out front. My hands lost feeling so I was able to slip out of them with out much pain." I started to rub my wrist and I could feel the pain coming back. "Ow."

Severus: I'm shocked at what I hear. "His uncle chained him to a tree in this weather for trying to eat a cookie? And did he say he didn't eat anything all week?'  I'm brought out of my thoughts by a small whimper and I notice that he's rubbing his wrist. I walk over to my cabinet and pull out a pain potion. I sit down next to him and hand him the vial.

Harry: I greedily drink down the potion and in seconds the pain in my wrist subside. "Thank you sir. Sorry I was such a pain. I should be heading back."

Severus: Harry makes to get up but I push him back on the couch. "You are going no where. That uncle of yours is unfit to take care of you. You'll stay here. I'll see if Albus could get me custody over you." I watch as the boys eyes light up.

Harry: "You mean it? You'll take care of me?" I asked a little surprised. I really hope he can so I don't have to go back there.

Severus: "Yes. I'll take care of you." I hold the child close to me and watch him fall back to sleep, knowing that he's finally safe from his uncle. I too fall asleep with the image of Harry's smile in my mind.
