The flames licked at the dry wood, devouring it instantly.
The only sound was the popping and crackling of the wood in protest.
Each flame danced in the breeze and reached for the sky.
Indigo flames started at the base and gradually turned golden at the top.
As each minute passes, the wood burns and becomes amber coals.
The heat from the fire is pleasant. It creates a bubble of warmth from the chilled air around.
Smoke tints the air with a pleasing smell.
The night is pitch black except for the flames. No stars dot the sky tonight.
The fire burns and burns until the wood is only coals. They dull to a dark orange and become black as they grow cold.
All that's left is the silence and darkness of the night.
