Imagine #4: Spencer

"Hello," you say answering your phone. "Hey (y/n)," says your brother, Aaron through the phone. "What's up?" You ask him.  "I was wondering if you could do me a favor..." He says, trailing off at the end. "Yes... What is it?" You ask hesitantly. "I just left a file at my place and I was wondering if you could bring it to me." You already had your coat and keys. Since you had gotten back from the Navy, all you wanted to do was see the town. "Of course! On my way!" You yell into the phone as you run out the door and hang up. 

You walk into the building and straight for the elevator.  A tall, thin man standing waiting for the elevator.   The doors open and the two of you step inside. "What floor?" You ask reaching for the buttons. You press the one that belong to the floor Aaron's office was. "That one," the man says, looking at his feet.  He was pretty cute, standing there with his hands in his pockets and looking completely awkward. You see his badge and see the he works with the FBI, the tag read Dr. Spencer Reid.  "Oh!" You say, realizing that he works with Aaron. "You work with my brother," you say, trying to start a conversation with him. "Oh," he says and looks at you. The elevator doors open you both step out. "My brother is Aaron, I came to give him these," you say, waving a folder in the air. "Uh... I'll take you to his office," Dr. Reid says reaching for the door. "I'm (y/n), y the way." You extend your hand to Dr. Reid. "Oh, I'm Dr. Reid," he says, shifting what he was carrying to shake your hand. You both walk through to doors and Aaron sees you come in. Aaron beings to walk over to you with a huge smile on his face. He brings you to a huge hug and squeezes tight. "I saw you yesterday," you tell him. "I know but I am so happy that you're home," he responds.  You hand Aaron his files and see Dr. Reid going to sit at his desk. "Aaron is that the Dr. Reid that you've told me about?" You ask Aaron, pointing to Dr. Reid. "Oh yea, why?" He responds. "I just... I thought he'd be older." You say. "Okay then, will you come look at this," Aaron says, gesturing you into the conference room. You follow Aaron and see tons of boards with pictures and documents.  "Wow..." you trail off.  "Yea," Aaron says.  "You okay?" You ask him. He nods and sits down , "I just can't find it." You look at him with confusion. "Can't find what?" You walk closer to the board in front of you. "The missing piece," Aaron answers you. You nod and then the door burst open. Dr. Reid and a blonde women walk into the room. "I've almost got it," Dr.  Reid says and he shuffles papers around.  You watch him for a second, he looks up and your eyes lock onto his. Dr. Reid pauses the shuffling and looks at you in complete shock. By the time you and Dr. Reid quit looking at each other, the room was just about full. You recognized the people to be part of Aaron's team. Dr. Reid begins to go on about something with the map but is having a hard time concentrating on it.  Everyone soon scoots into the middle of the room to watch what Dr. Reid is doing. Dr. Reid and the team set points on the map, "But what does that have to do with the case? How does this help," asks David Rossi.  You glance at the map and see the same set of points that everyone is looking at.  "They're an arrow," you mumble and look at the board behind you-- However, no one heard you to follow you up. You see that each of the abduction sites made an arrow and the places that the bodies were found made an arrow. "The killer is telling you where his end game is," you say. This time, everyone looks at you. "He is around here?" Dr. Reid asks drawing a circle on the map with his finger. "Yes," you say and grab the marker in Dr. Reid's hand. You use the marker to show the arrows and then draw a circle to show the area where he would be. The team goes into motion, like a machine, they all grab a variety of papers, files and laptops.  With in ten minutes a women in a bright blue dress yells, "Got him!" The team grabs their coats and head out the door. "Hey, I'll be right back," Aaron says to you. "Stay here with Garcia." You nod and sit down by the women who found the bad guys location. 

"You're Hotch's sister?" She asks you, closing her laptop. You nod and look her way. "Cool! I have so many questions!" She yells with the brightest smile you have ever seen.  The two of you discuss Aaron and then the rest of the team comes in the conference room.  "Hey," Aaron says, "I'm sorry I had to run off like that." You look at him and give him the 'pfft' look. Aaron laughs and then gestures to his team. "I should probably introduce you. This is Derek, JJ, Prentiss, Rossi and I see that you have already meet Reid and Gracia." You shake hands with everyone and they all give you a warm welcome, except Dr. Reid. He looks like he is scared to take your hand or even look at you. You brush it off and then Agent Rossi announces, "Dinner at my place!" Everyones faces light up with excitement. Apparently this is a big thing here.  "You too," Agent Rossi says bringing you in for a hug.  Every one finishes up what they had to had heads down to their cars. 

 The last people to leave were you, Aaron and Dr. Reid. Naturally, you all went to the elevator together and waited. The door dinged then Aaron says, "Oh hey. Left my keys, I'll be back." He gestures for you to go down to the garage without him. Dr. Reid gestures for you to enter the elevator first, you comply to both of them and step into the elevator.  You and Dr. Reid go to push the button at the same time, but your hands brush against each other.  "Oh, sorry Dr. Reid," you say pulling your arm back. "Spencer's fine and it's okay," He says quietly and pushing the correct button. "So..." you say, "is dinner as good as Aaron made it out to be?" Spencer smiles at his feet as responds, "yea, they're great."  Silence fell on the elevator so your tried to start another conversation with Spencer.  "How long have you worked here?" You ask him. He responds with a shoulder shrug. You look at him and come up with a plan to get him to talk. You sigh loudly and say, "You know, Aaron made it sound like you were a genius but I haven't heard anything genius out of you." You look over at him to see his response.  He just looks confused but responds, "I was the one that thought of the map thing today." You smile and laugh, "But I am the one you figured out what the points meant." He looks at you, opens his mouth like he was going to say something. He closes it, and looks down at his feet.  The elevator door dings and Spencer lets you out first.  "Did you know I just got back from the Navy?" You ask him. "Uh, yea," he says.  "I saw the terrible tan line on your wrist and Hotch said something." You nod and spin sharply on your heel to face him. "Anything cool and interesting about you?" You ask Spencer. He stops in front of you for a second, then goes around you. "Not really," he replies to you.  "Hmm..." you say and run to catch up to him. "I heard you like Star Trek," you say from behind him. He stops and turns around to face, the two of you smile at each other and begin to talk about Star Trek.  Aaron comes and interrupts the talk between you and Spencer. "Alright, let's go," Aaron says while guiding you to the car. "See you there Reid," Aaron says and opens you car door.  You get in and put your seat belt on. "I just got him to talk to me," you say and shoot Aaron a dirty look. He chuckles and starts the car, " He likes you." Aaron says bluntly. You look at him in disbelief. "You'll see," Aaron replies.

When everyone got the Agent Rossi's, JJ poured everyone a glass of wine and everyone went around telling stories about whatever.  There were a few times that you caught Spencer looking at you, you would smile and he would look at his feet. You thought that maybe Aaron was right and you got butterflies thinking about Spencer. When dinner was ready, you sat by Spencer. "Let's resume our conversation," you say and scoot your chair in. He turns to you and picks up right where he left off.  He talked for a solid 30 minutes about who knows what, you had zoned out and were just looking at him.  You hardly noticed anything else any one said until Aaron hit your shin under the table. "Huh?" You say and look to Aaron. All Aaron did was give you the look, as well as everyone else at the table. But there was Spencer, just continuing on with what he was talking about.  

Dinner finished everyone went inside to help do the dishes.  When all the dishes were washed and put away, every one said good bye and went on their way. As everyone left, hugs were giving to anything moving.  However, Spencer didn't do that part of the night. He just watched for a second and accepted hugs when they were giving.  With all the movement, Spencer had tried to slip out. This is when you decided to make your move so you followed him out the door. "Hey Spencer," you say. He spins around with an awkward, small smile. "Hey..." he says, trailing off the end.  "I was wondering if we could go see the new Star Trek movie together. Aaron is ore of a Star Warrior and, since I got back, I haven't had much time to make friends," You tell the surprised doctor. He looks at you in fear, "Uh... well," Spencer begins.  "What is it?" You ask him, fearing that you had scared him off.  "It's, uh, you know," he says, looking at his shoes and rubbing the back of his neck.  "It's just Hotch might kill me," Spencer says quietly. You chuckle and take a step closer to Spencer. "No," you say, "he will not." His head shoots up with a confused look on his face. "We were discussing this in the car on the way here," you say, Spencer takes a deep breath and looks like all the weight of the world just fell off his shoulders.  "I would love to," he responds. You smile at him and shiver, in the commotion you forgot how cold it was. "You better get inside. Here is my card," Spencer says, pulling out a card from one of his pockets. You gladly take it and thank him. Spencer nods at you and says, "I'll see you later." And with that, you went inside and finished your night.
