"Ugh school," I say groggily as my 5:30 alarm goes off. I run my hand through my brown hair and rub my bright green eyes. I yawn loudly and roll out of bed. I look at the picture in the frame next to my bed. It's of me, my dad, and my friends Derek and Lindsey. Man I miss Derek. I smile at the photo and throw on my clothes. I have a gray tank top, blue jeans and my Converse. I comb my long brown hair and then curl it. A little make-up and a smile later, I'm ready to head out into the world. They ask you at Whitnall on your first day of school to talk to at least one person who didn't go to school with you the year before. I walk up to my friend group and smile. We all break up to go meet new people. I see a boy sitting alone in the corner. I walk towards him slowly and smile when I reach him. "Um... Hi, I-I'm Audrey," I say, not knowing what kind of response I'd get from him. "Um... Uhhhh. Hmmmm. Hi I'm Donavan," he says, his voice a bit hoarse and quiet but still manly. I looked at the top of his beanie for a while before he looked up at me. The first thing that caught my attention was the black eye and massive bruise on his left cheek. Then it was his powder blue eyes. Then his long black hair, cascading in waves over his blackened eye. Then it was his crooked, toothy smile. It was sort of disgusting and attractive at the same time. I noticed his clothes next. A black sweater, a black skull beanie, black jeans with a silver chain hanging out of his pocket, and black shoes. He had a few piercings on his nose and ears, a silver medallion necklace with a Purple Heart medal hanging from it, and a brotherhood ring. I didn't know about the scars on his wrists or the tattoos all over his chest, stomach, upper arms and back. I mean he was pretty hot. He looked back down and went quiet again. So I said goodbye and started to walk away. "Wait!," he called from behind me. I turned around and he handed me a folded up piece of paper. "Here's my number, just in case you ever want to call or hang out sometime," he said, a small smile creeping across his lips. I just smiled back and ran off to class. He got his backpack and leisurely walked to first hour. When sixth hour came along, I had a big smile on my face when I walked in. I looked around and saw a lot of people I knew and were friends with. Then I heard the name and saw him again. "Row 5, Audrey Ferguson and Donavan Michelson," I sat next to him. I ended up sitting next to him in seventh hour also. I walked out with him and he was walking me home. We were almost there when he stopped, just froze like a deer in the headlights. I turned around. "What's wrong Don?," I asked, a little concerned for him. He didn't say anything, so I got a little bit closer to him. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere, he pulls me in and brushes his lips gently against mine. Did he really just kiss me?!? "Y-you just k-kissed me," I said, really quiet. "I'm sorry, I'm so so sor-" before he could finish his apology, I pulled him in and brushed my lips against his. We made out on the sidewalk for a little while, before I said goodbye and skipped down the road to my house, leaving him alone and speechless on the side of the road. What's tomorrow gonna hold? I have no idea but whatever it is, it's gonna be magical with him by my side.
