"Cheryl? I need you to help us out with the last of these boxes!" Joan calls from inside our new home.

"Sure mum, just let us take care of Kiera first." It was the beginning of summer and my mum decided we should move to Bradford to be closer to my dad since he had to move away for work a few months ago.

"Chez, come on!" Joan yells again.

"Coming mum!" I holler back. "Kiera, be good for us okay?" I sigh, tying her leash to the nearest tree. I tread over to the back of the moving van and grab the last two boxes.

"That's all that's left, mum." I smile half heartedly.

"Alright, thank you darling." She says, rubbing my shoulder. "You get the room at the very end of the hall, Garry's is on the left and mine is on the right. I'm going to return the van and you and Garry can start unpacking your things, sound good?" I nod.

"Where is Garry anyway?" Just then, my little brother ran through the back door.

"Cheryl our new backyard is huge! And there's a really big tree maybe we could build a tree house!" He cheers.

"Maybe, but first we have to unpack." I say, laughing at his enthusiasm.

"Alright kids I'm off, I'll be back in an hour or so." Joan says, grabbing the keys.

"Bye mum!" Garry and I say simultaneously.

~

"Garry, your room is the one on the left, okay?"

"Yeah Chez mum told us." He rolls his eyes.

"You know if you keep rolling your eyes one day they're going to get stuck and you'll never be able to see properly again." I smirk.

"You're kidding right?!" Garry shrieks.

"Just get unpacked, pet." I say, laughing. I walked into my room where Kiera was already waiting for her doggy bed and treats to be unpacked. "Patience, Kiera." I chuckle. My brother Andrew had given her to us the same day he passed away, and ever since then she's been the only thing keeping a smile on my face.

"Cheryl, I have something for you." My older brother Andrew called from outside my bedroom door.

"If it's another pie to the face, I think I'll pass."  I could hear him chuckle.

"It's not this is real I promise..." He said sincerely.

"...Fine." I opened the door. There was my big brother, with the cutest puppy ever.

"Oh my god Andrew!" I squealed with excitement.

"My friend's dog had puppies a couple months ago and I immediately thought of you." He smiled, handing us the puppy.

"Are you serious?!"

"Yeah, she's yours."

"Thank you thank you thank you!" I hugged him, crushing the puppy in between us.

"Careful, don't want to hurt her." He said, chuckling.

"Right. Andrew I don't know why you got her for us but thank you so so SO much." I said, still with a huge smile on my face.

"What are you going to name her?" He asked.

"I don't know...maybe...Kiera! Yeah Kiera! I've always adored that name." I smiled.

"That sounds perfect." Andrew said. "Well I'm off, I'm going out tonight."

"Bye Andrew! Thank you!"
