ONE EARTH
There is only one Earth. Imagine what would happen if the only reliable place in our solar system that we live be gone? All of mankind's greatest discoveries, inventions, history would be nothing and us void out of existence.
As I was sitting near the wooden windows of our small classroom. I began to feel fear of the future ahead, due to the worsening condition of our planet. The entire global climate have already change but the force to save it is still weak. What are we waiting for? Global mass destruction? or perhaps extinction? Either of the two, none of us are going to benefit from it. Suddenly, my teacher's phone began to ring and I became afraid even more. Did you know that cellphones are considered to be a non-biodegradable waste? Looking at the new generation where almost all of the people use this technology as a means of communication. It is really frightening to imagine what would happen if all of the cellphones in the world become dysfunctional at the same time. Since it is non-biodegradable in a world of 8.045 billion people with a growth rate of .88 % per year, the question is where would all of it go?
While many of the people say that they want to conserve, protect and save Mother Earth. What is really happening is the opposite. We innovated our vehicles exhaust to be carbon monoxide free, for the purpose of reducing the chlorofluorocarbons that damage our ozone layer causing it to deplete, but we have been spraying perfumes, paints, using refrigerants to conserve our food which are the main sources of CFC's. We have recently been planting a lot of trees in order to cope up and replaced the one's we have cut down. But, we have failed to realize that it will took hundreds of years for it to grow and be useful again, yet we have been cutting down 2.47 million trees a day.
We tried many things to find the most efficient way to save our planet. But what we have missed all this time, is just to look in ourselves. The only most effective way to have a sustainable clean, livable, green and healthy environment is by us collaborating with Mother Earth. We are responsible for all that had happened, that is why we must heed its call. We should start by ourselves, we should nurture, love and give care to it. Only then, we can ensure that humanity will continue to go on.
