Al always admired his sister and thought it was his job to keep her safe until it was her time to leave the nest. Their father wasn't around anymore and it was like nature, he filled that gap. He hated when she cried and she was tough, so he knew she only cried when it was the last thing she could do. Fear wasn't his thing but he was was afraid of what these men could do to his little sister, his one and only. Looking at the hickey on his sister's neck irritated him beyond words. He realized she wasn't eating anymore and her favorite was made; a sandwich with smoked turkey, cheese, spinach, cranberry sauce between two whole grain bread slices.

He knew she had more to say, and the half eaten sandwich was enough of an indicator.
Al's P.O.V
I knew she was burning to get something else out. She didn't just come by to tell me she had a boyfriend in this weather, I knew something was up. I smiled to ease the tension and it was obvious that she was already feeling better. "Come on Xuri, if you can have a boy kissing on your neck, you must be able to tell me what's on your mind." I spoke up just enough for her to hear. She started blushing again. It annoyed me but knowing my sister, it simply meant she was happy, furthermore she's a smart one and was well known for making decisions that would be best for her in the long run. Finally she spoke "I wanna get my own apartment for my birthday." I knew my face must have been very quizzical because she continued speaking "I just thought I could start getting used to my own space since I'm going to university in Italy in a couple of months." I was still quiet, processing all of this was too much. It all made sense but at the same time it made no sense. I started thinking to myself, "The boy, the boy, it be must the boy."
I paced for a short second, pinching my nose. I know she knew me all too well so I stopped and spoke "Baby girl, wait just a little more maybe after graduation. You'll have your own place anyways." I watched her, never this focused. She was quiet and I knew she's going to be hard headed. She is old enough to be on her own. I'm just having a hard time dealing with her growing up. It's all happening so fast. We're about to have a fight I can feel it. "Did you talk to mom about this" she nods no, I knew she didn't. Why did she have to be as difficult as myself. "I'll call the boy, talk to his parents and invite him over, is that okay?" I asked her and I saw her thinking hard about it. "Si o no?" I asked in my native tongue and she knew I was having enough of this. "Why?" my sister asked and I was more than happy to answer that one "because it's the only way I can be civil with him, with you in the same room and to continue if I don't speak to him you won't be able to leave until you graduate high school." "Why?" she whined, and I didn't hesitate to answer "because I need to know what he's all about. Plus once your on your own he can be with you as he likes and I have no control over that. I need to talk to both of you because I know what can happen if a man is left with a beautiful woman like yourself with no interruptions. Things can happen and I need you guys to understand the importance of being very careful. I prefer to be a father before an uncle. You know this." I felt like I aged 10 years more. All this seems to be happening so fast. Is this what happens when reality hits? I need to forger this, all of it. Je'neive should do the trick, I hope she agree to going out later. __________________________________
Xuri was happy with the way Devon and her big brother got along. She knew it grossed him out to even think about some boy kissing her. She was in a daze as she thought about her new found love. It was when Ritzer pulled up to her home she came back to earth.
Xuri's P.O.V
I'm just so happy that my brother took the time out to make sure things where ironed out properly. I really appreciated how much he thought about my safety and I know I'm going to be jealous when he finds a lady, my attention will be divided. The car stopped and I didn't even realized until Ritzer been still and quiet for awhile. "Oh I'm home, thank you Ritz" he nodded and smiled, and I walked up to the brown, well groomed wooden door the leads to the warm insides of my mom's house, home. Now I could tell mom everything, well maybe not now. In the midst of all of this I was praying that Devon and I did well by each other because I know my brother would mess him up if anything went bad.
