As I finish up the last of my homework at the library, I check my phone to see what time it is. It reads 9:13 p.m. Shit. I'm so late for my curfew. I am sure, I'm going to get a beating tonight.
I gather up my textbooks and note books and shove them in my bag. I quickly walk towards the doors and jog all the way to the house. I call it a house because it doesn't seem like a home anymore, not since 6th grade anyways.

I quietly open the door and slip off my vans. I stop to listen if anybody's home. I hear the tv but no voices. Maybe they fell asleep.
I tip toe to the corner and peek around. My "father" is fast asleep in his chair and my "mother" is no where to be found- thank the lord-.
I creep to the stairs and quietly walk up them but then one of my textbook falls out of my bag with a loud BANG!! I must have forgot to do up the bag all the way.
Conner, my "father", jumps out his chair and spins around and looks me dead in the eyes. " You are so late, I think you deserve a beating" he says as he slips off his belt.  His voice thick with alcohol.  Conner is an alcoholic. Even without it he still beats me because "I'm worthless", "stupid", "waste of air". I'm nothing like what he wanted. He wanted a strong, intelligent boy but all he got was a weak but smart girl.

According to him anyways.

As he stepping closer, I could smell the alcohol from his clothes and the closer he got, the closer I was away from a anxiety attack.
He was just 3 feet from me when my breathing started to quicken as I started to hyperventilate, I started to see black dots dance across my eyes. But still tried to stand up stand, to show him no fear, I think It didn't really matter to him because he ripped off my shirt, revealing my bare skin. And that's when he started  to whip me with his belt. When my back numb out. My knees shook so violently, that they gave out. When I was laying on the ground groaning from the pain. He started to kick me is the stomach. After about 5 minutes of kicking, he violently pick me up and punches me in the face.  CRUNCH!
My nose just starts to gush blood all over the hardwood floors.
He screams

" Did that hurt you, you little bitch!"

He throws me on the floor and yells in my face
" that'll teach you not to be late ever again! Now go to your room before I change my mind" with that, he spins on his heels and walks towards his bedroom.

I, very painfully, drag myself up the stairs because I'm afraid what he is going to do if I don't. I crawl towards my bedroom and close the door.
I look at my ribs and stomach and see bruises already starting to form. I check for broken ribs. They are only bruised. My nose on the other hand is broken. I put it back into place. It hurts but not as much as it used to because my nose breaks a lot from him. The pain in my ribs was throbbing really bad but I couldn't go to the kitchen to get an ice pack. I open up my window and gather the snow on the window still and put it in a plastic back. I spread the bag across my ribs and stomach. I moan from the pain but slowly the pain numbs out from the coldness of the snow. Thank god for snow. As you can see winter is my favourite season because the snow and the cold drowns out the pain. I crawl into bed with the bag on my ribs and I fall into a deep sleep.
