2015

A
terrified scream cut through the room as I jolted up from our sleeping position. Not scream, but screams. The sleep was slowly draining out of my system as I gently pushed Ryan's arms from my waist.

"Reagan?" He mumbled as I wonder how he could possible not wake at the sounds of the screams. Maybe I was going crazy.

"Shh." I replied, placing a kiss on his forehead. Hopping off the comfy and warm bed, I stalked towards the window to either confirm if the screams were real.

"F.uck" I whispered, stumbling away from the window. Out in the middle of the street laid a woman crying and pleading for help as a grown man fed on her shoulder.

A vampire? It was pure daylight, but the "vampire" didn't crumple into a pile of ash. Damn you, Reagan, I cursed to myself, you watch to much cliche vampire movies. I studied the two people, now suddenly interested. People streamed past them, but I didn't give them a second glance, I was only interested in them. Warning flashed in my mind, which I idiotically ignored.

The man kept feeding on the woman. "Ryan." I whispered, cursing to myself why I couldn't raise my voice.

The man finally stopped and stalked off to feed on another victim. The lady laid there, unmoving. "Ryan." I raised my voice louder, as he grumbled clearly annoyed.

To my surprise and shock, the lady got up before biting the nearest victim causing me to gasp. Her eyes were black and emotionless as she sunk her teeth in the victim. "Ryan!" I screamed.

Ryan shot from bed, jogging to my position near the window. "What Reagan-." He was cut off from the sight before him.

What the f.uck was happening?

"Holy sh.it." He silently gasped, before tugging me towards the kitchen. The lights were flickering, making my fear grow. Frustrated tears threatened to leak. Before I could collect the right words to say, a sudden and fierce pounding came from the door along with a snarl that made my heart clench.

"Listen, Reagan, I want you to fill a bag full of food, water, and weapons while I guard the door. We'll escape through the fire escape. Whatever happens, kill those f.ucking creatures and trust no one. I love you babe." Ryan smiled, assuring me before pressing his perfect pink lips to mine.

Determined, I overstuffed not a bag, but a suitcase full of food, water, and possible weapons. Getting the feeling we were no longer coming back, I fit it one photo album. I turned to Ryan to see he was currently looking through the peephole of our crappy apartment door.

"Ryan I did it." I notified him, watching as his face filled with the emotion of anger. I flinched immediately.

"Are you really that f.ucking stupid?! How are we suppose to travel with that large of a suitcase. Sometimes, I think you're just a fuc-." The door gave away to one of those creatures, immediately sinking her teeth in his bare skin.

A scream tore from my throat, sobs racking my body. The suitcase and everything going on outside left my mind. Flashes of him and I together are like a fast slideshow in my brain leading up to his death. I was so f.ucking scared and I regretted that. I could've ripping that disgusting creature from your body or kill it, but I stayed emotionless as a statue.

"Reagan." He spoke, weakly and made close to no effort to push her off him. "Go."

It was a miracle I got to the roof with my suitcase and stayed there the whole night without any disruptions. I balled a piece of cloth and stuck it in my mouth, to keep from any noise from escaping. Ryan's death replayed like a movie in my mind, tears freely cascading down my face. It was a torture with no end.
