A/N: I went Christmas shopping earlier, and now I'm watching Nativity for 'research' purposes, so I'm in the festive spirit.
Soft sunlight filtered through the apartment windows. Your eyelids fluttered open, a sleepy yawn escaping your mouth. It was your day-off, and a well-deserved one at that; you had worked yourself to the bone for the last month in the hope of a promotion, or, at the very least, a salary raise.
The bed creaked as you slipped out of its cosy covers. Shivering, you slowly shuffled over to the window, expecting to see the same old view that you saw every day.
The view that greeted you instead made you squeal in joy.
"James! James, wake up!"
The lump on the left side of the bed groaned, pulling the covers further up. "It's too early, [Y/N], come back to sleep." A hand snaked out of the quilt, patting the empty space that you had just vacated. Rolling your eyes, you decide to have a little fun with your sleep husband.
"Okay... One moment." James gave out a small grunt in response to your answer. Oh, he should know you better than that. You padded across the fluffy carpet, as if you were about to actually climb back into your shared bed. Your husband's face peeked out the covers, a blissful smile spread across his still half-asleep features.
Your hands ever-so-slowly made their way to the edge of the quilt, fingers curling, your arms tense with anticipation. All of a sudden, you ripped the duvet off of your husband, who let out a startled screech at the immediate change in temperature. "[Y/N]! What was that for?" James pouted, reaching over and hastily pulling the covers back over his now-shivering body.
You grinned, bouncing like a toddler on Christmas day. "James, look outside!"
Your husband frowned. "What is so special about the outside that made you feel like you just had to wake me up in this manner?" If possible, your grin widened. "Get up and look."
Sighing, James gave in to your childish antics. He chuckled, his eyes softening at your expression. Leaning over, he placed a small kiss on the bridge of your nose, making your cheeks flush. Something about him never failed to turn you into a schoolgirl on her first date.
James climbed out of bed exasperatedly, giving you a small, tired smile. Without breaking eye-contact, he shuffled over to the windowsill, before breaking your gaze and looking outside. You watched, amused, as his facial expression changed from shock, to bewilderment, to confusion, to joy.
"... I can see why you woke me up now."

"Best. Day. Ever."
After you and James had tugged on clothes, gloves, hats and scarves, the two of you had dug out your old toboggans. With the same enthusiasm as a child, you had made the most of the snow day, tobogganing, making snowmen and snow angels, and having a snowball fight with James, who resembled a person trying to a hundred-layer clothes challenge. You didn't even know he had half of the jackets, thermals, and scarves that he piled on.
Now, back in your apartment, you were running a scalding bath while James made himself busy in the adjoining kitchen, preparing two of his famous hot chocolates. You ran a numb hand through swirls of water, the boiling water bringing a warm, pleasant feeling.
The door behind you swung open, presenting James with a steaming mug in each hand. He placed one onto the edge of the sink, passing the other to you. You wrapped your hands around it gratefully, exchanging a silent word of gratitude with your loving husband. James nodded in acknowledgement, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. Leaning into his warm frame, you twisted the taps off, a silence descending over the two of you.
