The roar of the ocean rebounds around the island. The waves begin to crash on the shore line as the sun rises in the distance, it was the first morning. Ralph awakes with a start, panting as he lifts himself into a sitting position.

Last nights dreams were filled with images of planes, laughter, uniforms, then there was fire, bombs, an island. Ralph looked around at his surroundings, he saw the forest to the right of him and many school boys sleeping along the beach to his left. "It wasn't a dream" Ralph thought to himself with a deep sigh. Brushing sand off of his shirt and trousers he decided to head towards the waters edge, being careful not to disturb or accidentally trip on any of the others.

The heat from the rising sun was increasing, Ralph kicked off his shoes and stood where the tide reached, the water felt cool against his feet. Quickly he ripped off his clothing, threw it aside and ran into the ocean. He dove to the bottom, a school of fish swam quickly out of his way, Ralph could see the coral in the distance and many different species around him. The salt water felt refreshing against his body as he began to tread through it, Ralph couldn't remember the last time he got the chance to swim for pleasure. He ascended to the top of the ocean and ran a hand through his hair, looking out at the horizon.

All the realizations of the situation he was in came flooding through his brain. How long are we going to be here? What if we never get rescued? Why did this have to happen? Why me? Where am I? What will we do? Daddy please come. "Hello" said a voice from behind him. Alarmed, Ralph quickly spun around, he saw a red haired boy who was wearing some kind of black uniform, he recognized the boy from the plane ride, but never actually had the chance to speak to him. "Oh hullo" said Ralph, swimming back towards the shore.

"It's really hot today isn't it?" Replied the red haired boy, "um.. Yes" said Ralph as he stepped out of the water and began to put his clothes back on. "Sorry, but what's your name?" Asked Ralph as he tugged his shirt over his head. "Jack, Jack Merridew" said the red haired boy, hesitantly sticking out his hand. Ralph took it and they smiled at each other with shy liking.

"Look at that!" Said a fat boy who was standing knee high in the ocean water. The fat kid was known as 'piggy' to the rest of the boys, no one really took an interest in knowing his real name, in fact, no one really took an interest in piggy at all. "What is it?" said Ralph curiously, trying to peer over Piggys shoulder. "It's a conch! I've seen one like this before! You blow from this end and it makes a noise like a trumpet." Piggy handed the conch over to Ralph who stared at it with amazement. The shell was a beauty, it seemed almost like something you'd see right out of a movie.

She was walking through the forest on the trail that she had made, almost noon thought Lia looking up to the high rising sun, time to go hunt.  She moved on through the forest, pushing vines and stepping over fallen logs. Lia stopped suddenly and stood still, there was a rustling coming from somewhere to her right. She crouched down low and ducked behind a bush, peering through the bristles. There was a wild pig about ten meters away from her, and all the while coming closer, she was ready to pounce on it, ready to stab it, ready to kill it.

"Just come a little closer thought Lia greedily then you'll be mine"

The pig began to move closer and closer, Lia stared at it with determination. She stood up, ready to advance, but something loud rang through the air, it was almost like the sound of a trumpet. With a squeal, the pig ran away through the forest and out of sight. "Damn it!" Yelled Lia throwing her spear on the ground. She crossed her arms, wait she thought a trumpet?

She began to sprint with all of her might. Her legs began to burn, her lungs were running out of oxygen and she was getting multiple cuts from the branches and thorns in her way but she didn't care, it didn't matter. She finally got to the edge of the forest where the trees blocked her from sight, and looked beyond at the beach. There was no man, no ship, no nothing.

" But what made that sound?" Thought Lia, she never heard anything like that in all her weeks on this island, it was new, and new intrigued her.

She began to walk down the edge of the trees, keeping her eye out for anything, that's when she saw something move along the beach and heard voices in the distance. Lia continued to walk, only faster this time, intent on figuring out who these people were.

She saw them, they were not grown ups, they were kids. Kids? She thought confused, how did a bunch of kids wind up stranded on this island? Lia took a closer look at them. There was about fifteen to twenty of them, and they were of all sorts of ages from around six years to fourteen. She stayed staring at the boys in confusion and awe, her mouth hung slightly open as she searched the party, not able to look away.
