"CASSANDRA, DON'T GO! I swear I'm the same person you've always known!"

The silky voice of a young man could be heard as he cried desperately, his voice drifting through the open front door of a house. The house was just as any other, average sized with a single garage, easily blending into the neighbourhood surrounding it. Until now, the neighbours would never have heard yelling coming from the house, the couple being a pair of mild characters who seldom raised their voices. Both man and woman would have been described as totally in love without fail, if their peers were ever asked. As it was, the nosy woman next door was peeping through the window, shocked at the scene unfolding before her. Across the road, a young child heard the cries drifting through his bedroom window, though he paid no mind to them, as his parents always shouted. The man's shadow barely crossed the threshold before the door was slammed in his face, preventing him from following the second figure out of the door. The woman who believed that she had escaped her fiancee ran to a black sedan parked on the street, opening the back door first, for she was not alone. With her she held a six month old child who had tears streaming down her face. The child yearned for her father, and to the woman it would seem that even at such a young age the child knew she was never to see him again. The woman strapped the child into her car seat and threw open the driver's door of the car, sliding in and reaching for her keys. Just as she ignited the engine, the front door of what used to be her house was flung open, and she floored it, flying off through the night, leaving the man to fall to his knees at the curb, alone as he was doomed to be for all of eternity.
