About five minutes later, a strong, burly looking man walks toward the group.  He clears his throat, and all fall silent.

"My name is Coach Travels.  Yes, I'm human. Yes, I know some of you are witches and wizards, which is fine by me, as long as you don't give me any funny business,"  He coughs.

Why would someone make an opening statement like that?  It makes me wonder if something had happened to him in the past.

"This course is designed to make even the scrawniest person into someone at their most physically fit,"  His eyes land on me of course, and I cringe in embarrassment.  "We teach people how to take care of their bodies through hard work, while also building good morale and leadership.  We work as a team. Remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link."

A lot of the other students nod their heads back and forth in agreement.  I just sit there, dumb-looking, in the grass.

"So, what is being passed around now is a guide to eating right.  Some people eat too much, while others eat too little.  There are also healthy foods to eat and unhealthy foods to eat.  This course will help you figure out how to eat the right foods and do the right physical training in order to be at your peak physique."  He sounds bored, as if he's reading off the same script as he has for the last ten years.

A large packet is tossed toward me.  It's title was "Your Fitness and You!" with a young girl giving me a thumbs up.

"This is your guide.  Live it, breathe it, you will be tested on it next week."

A collective sigh from the class resounds around the area.

"I know, it's so horrible!" He says in a mocking tone.  "Enough of that now.  Another one of our goals is to build a team spirit.  So to be a team, you have to know your team.  Let's all go around the group and say a little something about ourselves.  I'll start.  My name is Coach Travels.  I love to work out and listen to rock music."  He plops down onto the grass in front of us.  "Now begin."

"I'm Jen, and I love romance novels."

"The name's Loki, you could say that I'm good at enchantments."

People took turns saying their names and a quip about their lives.  I nervously awaited my turn, unsure of what I was going to say.  It looks as if none of these people knew me, so I want to make a good impression.  I idly twirl a piece of grass in between my fingers and wait for my turn.

"Okay, anyone else who needs to go?"  Coach Travels asks.

"Oh, um, I need to go," I raise my hand.

He nods.

"My name is Willow Mire, and...I want to make a good impression on all of you."

The faces directed at me crack into smiles and giggles.  It takes me a few seconds to realize what I had just said, but it was too late; the damage had already been done.   I sink my shoulders and chest in and stare into the grass .

"Well, if that's all, we can get started by putting you guys in teams of four.  These will be teams that I assign, so I don't want to hear any complaining from out of any of you.  Okay lets see here…" He picks up a clipboard and takes a look.  "Mire, Hampton, Roberts, and Clock.  Front and center, folks."

I'm surprised to hear my name called first, and apparently so are the other girls who were called with me.  We are told to stand in a group while the other teams are called forth.

"So why don't we all get to know each other...you know, since we're going to be together for the whole semester,"  An orange-haired girl with bright blue eyes says.  "I'm Kelly Clock."
