"mr and mrs abrams?" doctor barney said coming out his office to meet the couple waiting for him in the hall. "you can come in now."

as he said it austin hold bridget's hand carefully, giving her tranquility to do that. she took a deep breth before they come to doctor barney's office.

"good evening, doctor" the woman with golden hair said sitting in front of the man, displaying his most beautiful and hopeful smile. austin was sitting next to her, still holding her hand tightly.

"so, here we are. fifteen days after your fourth miscarriage, mrs abrams... this is really heavy for someone your age. i mean, this is painful for both of you i guess."

"completely" austin sighed. "we've been married for almost two years, bridget is turning twenty-seven, i'm twenty-six... we really want to have a baby, i mean, this is our biggest dream now."

"yeah, i see. well, i have your exams with me here, mrs abrams, and unfortunelly i don't have good news for you..."

austin swallow dry nervously.

"say it, doctor."

"i don't think you two will get a baby so early. bridget, your body can't stand a pregnancy for more than two or three months, passing this it can turn really dangerous to you. i would suggest another insemination but your body is too traumatized for it, it won't work. doesn't worth the price trying to fertilize you again, your uterus won't accept it after so many failures."

bridget let go of austin's hand to cover her eyes. she couldn't stand the tears. she hated to look so weak and small in public and yet in front of her husband, because austin wanted that baby more than anything in the world and she just couldn't give it to him. she felt useless.

"shh, it's okay, princess, it's okay..." austin said caressing his wifes back. then turning to doctor barney. "doctor, there is nothing we can do at all?"

"well, adoption is still an option, but if you want a baby of you own... i think we could try to appeal to a surrogate mother."

bridget looked up shocked.

"what? you say i'm not carrying my baby?"

"let me explain" he said. "a surrogate mother is something more than common these days, so many couples resort to them if they don't have a chance of having a baby, what i think it's your case. since the problem is bridget's uterus we can take your dna and put it in someone else. you can keep up close the gestation 'til the end, it will be much more simple and tranquil than you think."

"i don't know..." bridget spoke. "a stranger carrying my baby instead of me? this is too much..."

austin took a look to his wife while thinking about the possibility.

"maybe we should try it."

"what?! austin, this is our baby..."

"exactly! and we want it so bad... how many chances can we take? this is what we have left now."

"but it's a stranger..."

"not completely" doctor barney crossed the discussion to contest. "you'll have a met and interview with the candidate before choosing one. it's up to you now. can we try?"
