This story was originally written and published on Wattpad shortly after I joined the site.  This version is a complete overhaul of the full-length original version.  Since Poetry is now my main genre, this overhauled version is written with poetic undertones.  Enjoy :o)

Introduction.

Neil came from a dysfunctional home where money was scarce.  Living in squalor was the last thing he wanted for the wife and children he hoped to one day be blessed with.  None of them should ever be made to wonder if dinner for the night would be nothing, alcohol, or leftover scraps from dumpster diving.  His parents were alcoholics and at one time so was he.  The streets and its thugs...his surrogate father and classroom until he met Eleanor, who came along in his life when he was at a cross roads...

"Everyone has a silver lining and for me that silver lining was Eleanor...her world was as grim as mine except, she truly had sacrificing parents…and though pauper, they loved her dearly which made all the difference in her world...in her heart and later...the way she became because of them, would make all the difference in what was left of the rest of my undeserving life..."

Neil would eventually become indebted with his life to a shady underworld of hardcore career criminals under the supreme rule of one man----Hudson Steele.  Neil had no idea that walking with Darkness to ensure that his family would have a better life than he did would indebt them ALL in some way to Hudson Steele...

"Believe it or not...at one time or another, either unbeknown or known, we've all had One...and walked with It for some time, thinking...that at that moment we needed It, never realizing during each step within Its shadow, that those whom we cherish above our own souls...would get snared in the trap we unwittingly laid for them, in our struggle for their freedom...or rather, in my struggle for my family's freedom--

Freedom from the oppressive sorrows of mankind’s Adversity.

I was so fucking wrong...to think...to believe...that walking within Its shadow along side Its foot steps!  That I, that we needed It!  That we needed Him!  That the Devil's way...was the only fucking way!  I refuse to go down into the flames of Hell alone for what I‘ve done!  I will be taking my Devil with me…I will drag Hudson Steele down into the bowels of Hell’s eternal fury and anguish with my bare bruised and battered hands stained with his worthless pitiless blood..."
