It seemed like forever in his arms, like his voice commanded the time to stop. The setting sun seemed to settle on the horizon and not disappear as quickly as it usually did. Time was ours, and it felt absolutely perfect.
His breathing was soft and warm against my head, and it calmed me. We breathed at the same pace. Connected, somehow.
I knew it wouldn't last too long, but I continued to cling to him as the sun hung on the horizon. I loved every second. The new forever we just promised on began now, and the earth bent to our willful promise.
He squeezed me a little tighter, "I like the idea of forever, don't you?"
I nodded and gazed out onto the painted horizon, "It sounds perfect."
He laughed softly and it warmed my chest. I missed him so much, that I didn't really notice how cold it made me. Could I change this much over one....well two people? It seemed so.
I shook my head, and he tensed up, "What was that for?"
My face heated up and I stared up at him, ".....mmmm thinking??"
"Well, you have some weird thinking. Arguing with yourself?"
I nodded my head reluctantly as he laughed at me. My face became extremely warm, and I quickly crawled out of his arms. I tensed up as I looked down and quickly looked up. I froze....again.
I heard him crawling behind me and stabilize me. He lightly pushed be forward, but I didn't budge as I stared straight at the ground now.
"Oh, you scaredy-cat, you gotta be strong like when we were little, " he whined at me, "where'd that go~~!"
I squinted my eyes and grunted, moving forward slowly, "I.....I'm still strong ya butt!"
"Yea, right," he steadied his hands on my side as we moved forward to the trunk.
I frowned and headed down the trunk carefully then sat on the branch closest to the ground. I stared up at Victor, pissed.
"Don't be such a baby, Cynthia!"
"Baby, my butt!" I yelled as I jumped down and started jogging home.
"Hey! Get back here!"
"Nevahhhhhh!!! BAHAHAHAHA!"
I heard him jump down from the tree and start after me. Oh shizzle mcnuggies!! My feet sped across the grass and I hit the street.
"Stay away!" I screamed.
"Too late!~~~"
Running faster, I turned onto my street and hid behind the houses. The houses didn't have any fencing, and I knew all of my neighbors pretty well. I hope they wouldn't mind me hiding from a potential kid-napper.
Turning and watching him look around in confusion, I couldn't help but laugh silently. I navigated my way through the pattern of houses, and ended up behind mine.
The house next to me - stupid Nathan's house - had its backyard porch light on. Curious, I crept towards the backyard and peered around my house's corner. Nathan.
He was sitting on the dimly lit porch, but I didn't know what he was doing. I squatted down and walked slowly towards him. It was a long walk, and I hoped he didn't notice me so I could freak him out. I laughed maniacally in my head.
Nathan was intensely focused on an object - something extremely hard to believe. As I crept closer, I could see it was a book, and he was slowly moving his fingers across the pages at a fast pace.
