Your family's home was filled with hustle and bustle of house maids and cooks. Your family was hosting a ball that night and almost everyone in New York was invited, you made sure of it. For the longest time your family had been throwing extravagant balls, you had grown up in socialite lifestyle and your charisma was evident when you spoke to people.
"Mother!" You shouted down, at your mom from the top of the spiral staircase. She was used to you being loud.
You watched your mother stop what she was doing and glare up at you. The both of you had a playful relationship and she was definitely your favorite family member. "What!" She shouted up, at you.
You stared down at her and furrowed your brows, "You didn't invite him did you?!"
You watched your mother smirk playfully, "I invited the whole family! You know how I feel about the Hamiltons, they're a lovely bunch! You're sixteen years old (your name) grow up!"
"Ugh," You groaned to yourself. Even though you knew your mother would always invite the Hamiltons you always hoped that there was a chance she didn't. It wasn't the fact that you disliked the family, you just disliked the eldest son. You really disliked the eldest son, Philip was his name, and he was a complete and utter pain in your buttocks. You can remember the time you met him, clear as day.
"Eliza darling, it's so great to see you again, how was your trip?" Your mother chirped, she hugged the other woman tightly and smiled.
You stared at the woman and the little boy next to her curiously, you had never met them before and your mother seemed to know the family very well.
You followed your mother and the house guests into the parlor where your mother poured the each of you cup of tea. The unfamiliar woman grabbed her cup of tea and took a delicate sip from it, "Well, Tina, my sister, children and I headed upstate to visit my father. It was nice to take a break, I just wish Alexander would have come..."
You stopped listening to the two mothers conversation and focused your attention on the younger boy who was giving you a curious look, you responded with the same expression.
You felt you mother tap on your shoulder, and you looked up at her expectantly. "Darling, why don't you go ahead and show Philip around?"
'So that's his name, Philip' you thought and you stood up front your seat. And nodded towards Philip for him to follow you out of the room.
The both of you began walking down the hallway outside the sitting room. You decided to break the awkward silence first, "So you're Philip, I'm (your name)," You spoke confidently.
Philip nodded, "I know, my mother told me before," He responded.
You raised an eyebrow, "Okay, well, I'm just going to show you around, I have a feeling you'll be back," You replied.
You spent the next thirty minutes, showing Philip around the home. And then when the both of you tried to enter the parlor to see your mother's you were kicked
"This sucks," Philip said, and he stared at the door leading to the parlor. You could hear your mother's muffled voice.
You glared at Philip, "I'm not that bad...," You spoke irritably.
Philip flushed pink and furrowed his brows, "That's not what I-I mean you're not bad, it's just that well...,"
You crossed your arms, "What? Go ahead and say it," You spat, and glared at him. Philip fidgeted in his spot.
