She was prefect. Was. That one word that can destroy the lives of hundreds of people. But that's not why you're here. Your here to hear what leads up to this under-dramatic ending at the beginning. That requires going back around a year. Let us be off.
It was my first day at my new school. Actually it was a lot of firsts for a simple school day. First day of school, first day of junior year, and as I already stated, it's my first time going to a school district outside of Nevada ever. Sure I was nervous, all kids were, there was just a small tension in the air only I seemed to notice. As I walked in the first thing I noticed was the gym. It was massive. We had a decent size gym back at my old school, but nothing like this. It was borderline stadium material. Noted, they don't take sports lightly here, I thought to myself. Seeing as I had 30 minutes until classes started, I decided to get familiar with the layout of the new school. After 5 minutes of walking past the underclassmen, and getting the occasional nod at my Twenty One Pilots shirt, I knew the best route to take for my first few classes. I thought it 'd be best if I dropped off one of my backpacks at my locker before I dislocated my back. As I reached my locker I noticed a group of people standing right in front of it. I walked up, quietly excusing myself so I could drop off my bag and continue my walk. As I closed my locker, one of the younger looking guys walked over to me.
"Hey" he said a bit too cheerfully for me.
"What's up" I replied, trying my best not to sound bitchy.
"I've never seen you here, so I assume you're new. Welcome to Ohio, the weather's always shitty, it kinda smells, but we made the best band ever" he laughed poking my shirt.
I laughed nervously. I think he could see I was uncomfortable, so he introduced me to his group of friends. They were all nice, and other than the fact they looked and smelt high, they were cool. The boy who first talked to me was Cole, who was the brains of the group, and also ran it along with Amy, one of the most gorgeous girls I'd seen since I'd gotten here nearly a month ago. Then there was E. He had a name he said, but it's so confusing everyone calls him E. Even the teachers call him that I found out. Last but not least was Kaitlynn. She was the quiet type, but she was fairly nice when she did talk. We used up the last 20 minutes talking, so when the warning bell for first hour rang we I got everyone's numbers and ran off. My first few classes we're fairly easy, Band, Biology, and Art 1. I had been in band since 7th grade, sticking by the best instrument in my opinion the flute. Sure I'm biased but how can I not be since I played the freaking thing. Biology flew by, the normal first day lectures and rules as always. Art was about the same, although we did work on the concept of our first project. After those classes they had a study hall type class that lasted 30 minutes, but since it was the first day I just listened to music and slept. After that lunch was split into three lunches, A, B, and C, fairly explanatory, A being a medium sized lunch, be having the fewest kids, and C was full of everyone else. Lucky me I had B lunch so I could just calm down before heading back to my class. Trig was after the study hall and was split in half by lunch so it was okay. The day really got interesting when I was in lunch. Amy walked up and sat by me.
"Hey", I said with a smile, "what are the odds we'd have the same lunch"
"Yeah", She laughed, "especially since I saw your schedule and told you"
"Oh right," I remembered
"So how's your first day been" she asked picking around at her tray.
"Well considering I'm not dead...well I can't tell if that's a good thing" I laughed at my own dark sense of humor.
"Well I'm calling it a good thing." She smiled, "you seem pretty cool"
"Thanks" I said realizing the awkward silence to follow. We both sat there awkwardly for a few minutes. As I was stood up to grab a Monster from the vending machines, she asked what I was listening to.
"Oh, um it's a newer band," I said pointing to my shirt, "Twenty One Pilots"
"I've heard of them" she said walking with me to the other side of the cafeteria, "Cole is always bragging saying the shittiest state made the best band"
"Well they ARE pretty amazing", I laughed.
"Yeah Yeah, Panic! at the Disco is still better", she smiled
"You may have a point", I said grabbing the Monster from the vending machine. Just as I cracked it open, the bell rang, so I chugged it on my way back to the other side of the school since my teacher only allowed water. The last half of the class was just messing around while the teacher went over the handbook. After that hell hole I needed a break so choir was just what I needed. I always sang but nothing like this. It was a full room with risers and tons of band equipment. I learned earlier that the band and choir shared a room. It seemed stupid considering how much money I could tell we poured into the sports department. I grabbed a chair and sat myself right in the middle of the risers because that's where the boys seemed to be congregating. I pulled out my phone to see what I had missed on the outside world since school started and sure enough I had a text. It was from Amy. Hey my mom said she was working late and I live far enough away it isn't a comfortable walk, can I hitch a ride? This surprised me a little. As I was about to reply, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and there she was.
"I see you got my text" she said.
"Yeah," I replied, "Don't you have your license?" I asked
"No, I'm only a sophomore" she told me, "that's why I thought I'd ask. It's okay to say no I can walk."
"No No, you said it was far, I don't want you to be carrying your backpack so far." I said," I'd be happy to take you"
"Cool, thanks Luke!", she said and ran off to her seat.

So this was a long start to a story. I plan to update every Monday until christmas. After that I'll get a newer, more frequent schedule. I promise they won't be short filler chapters either. 900 words+ per chapter. The story is based in the 2013-2014 school year so we start in August. Also sorry to the non americans reading, i'll try to make this easy. High school = secondary school, freshman (isntreferenced in this part but will be soon) is year 9, sophomore is year 10, junior is year 11, senior is year 12, and underclassmen are freshmen and sophomore, upperclassmen are junior and senior. One more thing before I go...THIS STORY IS COMPLETELY FICTIONAL so dont assume im writing about myself. i'm not.
