I managed to get onto the interstate before asking, "What the hell? Why'd you get arrested."
"Well...", he trailed off, "I may have been speeding and caught with a bag of pot in my glove box."
"Pot?", I asked.
"Ya know, weed, marijuana.", he said.
"I know but why'd you have it."
"That's why we go on a canyon run. We drive for like 20 minutes then pull off onto a slightly hidden area and smoke. It's fun.", He said keeping his eyes glued to the passing traffic.
"Okay...", I said speeding up to keep up with everyone else.
"So where we going?", He asked.
"I'm dropping you off at where ever you want to go and I'm meeting my mom for dinner.", I said firmly.
"But-", I cut him off.
"No I can't right now."
"Fine.", he replied, "drop me off at E's. It's back there on the left.", he pointed behind us.
"Sorry man I just can't tonight", I said as I turned around.
"It's fine.", He said grabbing his bag. I came to a stop in front of the house he pointed at.
"Hey, where's your car?", I asked as he got out.
"It's still up in the cove where I had my friend they let go take it. I'll get it tonight." he replied flatly.
"Okay then.", I said looking forward, "Well see ya tomorrow.", he just nodded.

I called my mom telling her I'd be at the restaurant in 10 minutes. I ran home and put on a nicer shirt and combed my hair. As I walked out of the house my mom texted me telling me to get here before they order. I ran into my car and raced down the road. I pulled into the parking lot and threw my car into park before running in.
"Are you the fourth member of that party?" the waitress asked, pointing to my family?
"Yes, ma'am", I replied using my best manners.
"Go ahead and join them"
"Thank you!", I called as I sat down.
"How was your drive?", my mom asked.
It was... interesting.", I replied as they sat down a glass of tea in front of me.
"Would you like to order yet?", the waitress asked politely.
"Yes, I think we're ready.", my mom told her, "I'll have the chicken Mushroom Risotto"
"I'll have the Alfredo with chicken and shrimp.", I said.
"Could I have the spaghetti?", my brother asked.
"Of course.", The waitress replied with a cheerful smile.
"And I'll have the ravioli.", my sister said.
The waitress nodded and said, "I'll have that right out for you."
We all said thank you and went back to discussing our days. My brother, who was 9, went on about how 4th grade was so hard. Try trading me, I thought. He went on about cursive on the first day along with long division and other sorts of children's activity's. It's not that I thought I was better because I was older, I just knew how easy it was compared to now and how childish it seemed. My sister, who's 14, went on about her first day of high school. Although we're only two grades apart, I hardly saw her today. We brushed by each other in lunch but never said anything. Not that anything was needed to be said. Finally my mom asked me about today. I just told her about classes and such, nothing about my social life. I liked to keep family and friends away from each other after we moved here. Just as my mom went on about her job at the local hospital, our food arrived.
"Enjoy!", the waitress said. All I could manage was a awkward 'eh' as a thank you. Fucking social anxiety. I was never officially diagnosed but it was fairly obvious.
After dinner we all headed home, me taking my siblings because they thought it was oh so cool that I could drive. Even my preppy sister liked getting rides from me. I convinced my mo to give me some cash so I could stop by the gas station on our way home and get a drink for everyone. As we walked in I told them to get what they want as I walked back to get another monster. I remembered I still had my trig homework plus my photo-realistic charcoal drawing I've been working on since I got here. My brother found me first standing with they fridges open looking into the darkness.
"Hey, Luke! Hey, are you okay?", he asked.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine, just thinking.", I said as I grabbed a monster and closed the fridge, "Almost ready?", I asked
"Yep", he said, "Courtny's up at the counter waiting.
"Okay, let's go then.", I said and walked up to pay. As we got to the car, I checked my phone. 8:01 it read. Great I'm gonna be up until midnight I thought. I pulled into my driveway and put my car in park. Both my siblings rush into the house. I just sat there, thinking. I don't know what ha ]d gotten into me, I was normally fairly normal. I guess a new school had gotten to me. I grabbed my jacket and wallet I grabbed when I went to bail Cole out. I walked in, gave my mo her change and went to take a shower. They had always straightened me up so I figured why not. As I washed my face and waited for the water to heat up, I noticed I hadn't gotten a haircut since Christmas time freshmen year.
"I'll call the salon tomorrow", I told myself as I got in the shower. I always talk to myself. It calms me. I was letting the water rush over my face when I heard my phone go off. I contemplated looking at it but I couldn't afford to buy a new phone. Who would want to talk to me anyways? probably just a telemarketer.
I washed my hair and body and stepped out. I tried drying my hair with a towel but it was useless. I really needed a haircut. I picked up my phone and checked it. Amy texted me.
hey i know its probably a bad time to ask but can you give me a ride tomorrow? my parents left town tonight
yeah ill pick you up at 8
cool thanks
As much as I hated to say it, this girl was taking over my life. I had only known her a day, but that didn't matter. I dried off, put on a pair of shorts and a new band tee and walked into my room where I would stay up for hours. I finished my trig around 10 and only put in 30 minutes on my drawing before passing out. I know teens normally stay up forever but me? I can't stand being up past one A.M.
A//N I know this is a shorter chapter but I've written chapter 1, 2, and 3, in less than a week so give me credit. Next week will be the last week before I get a new schedule and finish this up. I'm planning on at least 15 chapters though so don't expect this yo finish right after new years.
