„With all do respect sir, does it have to be with her?"
You bit down on your lip at Isaac's comment. You had no problem with the tall guy, but he seemed to really dislike you anyway.
Now you gripped the edge of your folder, awaiting the teacher's answer.
"Now that I know that you don't like to, yes."
Sighing, you moved your pencil case in your bag and stood up, ready to take whatever punishment was set up for you.
A while later you carried five bags of paper towels into one of the store rooms when Isaac came in after you with a trolley. It was stacked with other cleaning utilities, and you began to fill in the empty spots on the shelves.
The room was rather small, and you noticed how the dark-blonde boy kept glancing at the door, as if afraid it could close in front of him and never open up.
"Something the matter, Lahey?" He flinched when he heard you speak his name, and barely looked at you.
"Nah, all good." His lips flashed a crooked grin, then he was back at his work.
He felt how your eyes were looking at him, and he swallowed, trying to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling in his stomach.
"You aren't claustrophobic, are you?" You said, after five more minutes of stocking more rooms.
The room in which you two were working right no was pretty small, the shelves barely fit in here, as well as some brooms.
His irritated view and how he clenched his fingers around the package with soap was answer enough to you.
"It's no-"
"Would you please just shut up? I'm not interested in talking."
Biting on your tongue, you shut your mouth.
A loud bang made you look around, your view falling on the closed door and then at Isaac.
He began to breathe more rapidly and tried to push open the door, but it wouldn't move an inch.
"Nonononononono!" He stepped back, eyes wide in fear. "Let me out! Lemme out lemme out!" He began to shout, and knocked on the door.
"Isaac, calm down!" You said. "Can you hear me? Calm down, it's going to be okay."
He seemed to overhear you, so you pushed yourself between him and the door. That was a dangerous position, and you knew it. Being friends with Allison had taught you that the thin guy wasn't just human, and you most certainly didn't want to find out what he looked like as a wolf inside this trap.
At first, his sharp teeth made you swallow, but there was no time of rethinking your actions.
You placed both hands on the side of his head, and stared in his light eyes.
"Calm. Down. Let me help you."
He was still panting, as if he couldn't get enough air, but his hands gripped your shoulders, digging into the flesh.
"Imagine, imagine the forest." You said, still holding his gaze, trying to think of a calming scenario.
"It's day, a summer day in the forest. The sun is shining down, drawing patterns on the ground. You can smell the warm scent of earth and green leafs in the air. You hear the singing of birds. You can hear a small river in the distance."
While you talked, Isaac began to listen to you. Hesitant at first, but after a while he seemed to forget about his current situation and got lost in what you described him, his eyes glazing over.
He was still tense, but he didn't freak out anymore, so you just kept talking.
"A-and you can hear acorns falling down from trees, because squirrels are filling up their hidden stash. Do you have a girl or boy you like?"
"Girl." He breathed, eyes still focused on the scene in his head.
"She's there with you. She's holding your hand. You can hear her laugh. You play hide and seek between the trees. You find her, and wrap your arms around her. Picture how she giggles. You can smell the water from the river. You can feel the sunlight on your skin. "
His head had sunken down from its tense position, down to your shoulder, and his hands had relaxed, the claws no longer piercing your skin.
You remembered a trick, and leaned forward until your lips nearly brushed his ear.
"Sleep." You whispered.
His eyes closed, and his long legs gave away under his weight, but you could catch him and sunk down to the ground, Isaac settling in your lap.
His breathing even, his muscles unclenched, he seemed to have found peace.
You tried to open the door from where you sat, but couldn't reach it.
Wiggling out your phone, you began typing a message to Scott.
After you had sent it, you began to pet Isaac's hair in a lack of better amusement.
He sighed and adjusted his position.
Minutes later, you heard the sound of heavy metal being pulled over stone, and the door opened, nearly making you fall backwards.
Glancing up, you blinked a few times before you could see properly again, looking into the astonished face of Scott.
"How did you..." He waved his hand towards Isaac, who was still sleeping.
"Hypnotism. I told him he should picture a calm place, after he was hyperventilating. Did you knew he was claustrophobic?"
In this second, Isaac opened his eyes, wild with panic again.
He jumped up, right in the arms of Scott, who held him back.
"Isaac! It's okay!"
"No it's not I-"
"Isaac!"
His wolf eyes glowed, and he bend down for the alpha.
Leaning his back against the snack box that had been pushed in front of the door, his view found yours.
His lips parted but he couldn't speak.
"It's okay, Lahey." You said, a warm feeling in your stomach. "See ya around."
The dark haired alpha-boy stopped you.
"You okay? Did he got you?"
You waved a hand. "No, I'm alright, not a scratch." You considered your punishment for fulfilled, and send Scott a small smile. "Thanks for helping with the door."
The two wolf boys looked after you, as you put your headphones on and blocked the world out with your favorite song. Scott then turned back to Isaac, who was still shivering.
"You know what she did there for you? She took the risk of her getting pretty bad injured to save you from a panic attack."
"I know." He couldn't look his classmate in the eyes.
Instead he just kneaded his fingers, thinking about what he remembered through the haze of his panic. It was a mix of your voice and light-filled pictures.
"How did she do it?"
"What?"
"How did she... you know. Kept you from changing."
"She, ah, told me I should picture a scene and-" The picture of you, running in front of him, looking back now and then appeared clear in his mind. He furrowed his brows. There was more.
The two of you in the forest in fall, you wrapped in a thick coat, giggling while looking up at him.
He sighed and let his head fall back.
"Hey, Isaac! You there man?"
"I like her."
Scott lifted an eyebrow. "Who?"
"Her. _____. I'm such a jerk."
The dark haired male laughed softly. "You know, I bet you could ask her out."
Glaring at him, Isaac felt a spark of hope lighting up inside him.
"You think?"
Isaac ended up running into you at Starbucks by surprise, buying you a coffee to say 'thanks'.
