Shaylene's P.O.V

(Shaylene up above)

"Shaylene, are you sure you have everything you need sweetie?" Mom asked, her worried tone seeping through the phone. "I can go to the store and mail you anything you left here or that you need in the morning."
"Mom, I'm fine." I replied, my older sister softly chuckling and rolling her big brown eyes as she straightened my hair in her small apartment. "I mean, seeing as I just got here, I haven't exactly unpacked yet. But if I need anything, I can get it myself."
"And if she can't, I will." Fae yelled, just enough for our mom to hear her through the phone. "Jesus," She softly started, allowing only me to hear this part. "It's insulting how incapable they think I am of taking care of you." I laughed, my sister scoffing as I continued to talk on the phone with our mother.
"Are you signed up for all your classes?" Mom asked. "And did your sister take off to help you move into the dorm? You remember you move in next week, right?"

"Mom, yes." I replied, annoyance very present in my tone. "I signed up for all of my classes right in front of you, remember?" She sighed, answering my question. "And Fae made sure she wasn't scheduled for any photo shoots and Trent took off work as well so I have plenty of help for move in day."
"Shay, please don't hesitate to call me if things get too crazy, okay?" I nodded my head as if she could see. "You're only sixteen and I know your sister vouches to take care of you but we all know Fae has always been the wild child and you two are living on another continent now." I chuckled, looking to a clueless Fae through the mirror of the small beauty station in her bedroom while she continued doing my hair. "Unless you reach out to me yourself, or God forbid something goes horribly wrong, I can't keep track of you there."

"I know and I will. But I promise, you have nothing to worry about ma. It's not like I moved out here for no reason. I got into The British Performing-Arts Academy for crying out loud. This is a tremendous opportunity for me and if things work out well, I could actually make my dreams come true." She sighed, and she knew I was right.

"Besides, I'm living with Fae for a single week before I move into my dorm. How much trouble could we get into?" Mom scoffed, Fae making one of her crazy faces in the mirror before we both started laughing.

"Just be safe, okay?" Mom said, my and my sister's laughter still filling the room.

"Yes ma'am." I replied. "I love you mommy."

"I Love you too!" Fae exclaimed, clearly hearing our conversation coming it's end.

"I love you girls too." Mom replied, laughing. "Give Fae hugs and kisses for me, okay?" I chuckled, shaking my head.

"Alright mom. I will. Give dad our love too." She chuckled. "Bye."

"Bye baby." With that, I finally hung up my phone and my eyes instantly closed as a sigh of relief escaped my lips.

It was unreal how much freedom had already come over my entire being. I've always been the good child out of my siblings, especially after the passing of my big brother Ian, and it was just so nice to finally break free from that pressure for once.

"It's amazing, isn't it?" I chuckled, my eyes opening before I saw my sister's massive smile through her reflection in the mirror. "I wasn't even the good child and I felt the relief of escaping their radar when I moved to London!" I laughed, tossing my phone on her little beauty station.

"I can't believe I actually live here now!" She chuckled, straitening the last portioned of my curly hair.

"This still feels like such a dream to be honest! I mean, I'm actually going to school just to study music, my school is a boarding school which I'm so sure will be full of insanely hot European men, and I'm only going to live like thirty minutes away from you now!" I scoffed. "My life literally got ten times better with the opening of a single envelope!"

"Hell yeah it did!" Fae exclaimed before we laughed, the long strand of hair falling from her hand before it met my back. "There ya go." She said, setting the straighter down to the side as we looked at our reflections in the mirror. After a good hour of hard work, we both finally had our hair and make-up done. "I LOVE it when your hair is straightened!" I scoffed.

"That's cause it's only this way like once a year." She laughed, shaking her head as I stood up from the chair. And soon, we both went to the outfits that we had laid out earlier, and continued getting ready for my first night out in London.

"When is Trent gonna be here again?" She scoffed walking into her bathroom as she closed the door behind her. "Like five minutes." She replied, just loud enough for me to hear her through the wooden door. I laughed, stripping down to my underwear and bra so I could slip on my dress. "And just a heads up, his friend Jared is coming and he thinks you're like the most beautiful thing he's ever seen." My brows furrowed. "But he's never seen me before." She scoffed. "I flaunt your Instagram to all my friends Shay!" I chuckled, shaking my head as I struggled to zip up the back of my dress.
"Does he know I'm only sixteen?" Another playful and dry chuckle escaped her lips. "Yeah. He's the one who's making your fake ID with my picture." I just continued to laugh as I sat on the bed and put on my heels. "You're gonna have the best time tonight Shay! You have no idea!" I chuckled, nodding my head. "I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you met a kid or two that goes to your school. The place we're going to is like 10 minutes from BPA." "Really?" I heard her 'mhm' through the door, and that just got me even more excited for the evening. Tonight, really should be a good one. "Just don't let things get too crazy, alright?" She scoffed. "As if you'd ever let that happen." I laughed and again nodded my head.
Yeah, I was so happy to break free from my mom and dad as well as the pressure that came with being their perfect little angel, but the reason I was never the problem child is because I'll admit, sometimes I have a hard time just letting my hair down and living a little. There's so much I want to do for myself in the future and I get scared I'll ruin everything by making one dumb mistake. But I knew, this part of me would be my downfall and if I never reached fame, the reason it happened. That's why when I got into BPA, I decided to change that and be more spontaneous, just like Ian was.

"Alright," Fae started, walking out of the bathroom. "How do I look?" I looked up and a scoff instantly escaped my lips as I looked to my gorgeous sister in her "Like the model you are." She giggled, striking a pose for me before I stood up and laughed with her. "Damn girl!" She said, making me giggle as I pulled my short dress down a bit. I really don't care for dresses like this one, but she said this was the type of dress I needed to wear when I went out around here. "Seriously, you look so grown Shay! Like, no one is going to think you're only sixteen." I scoffed. "Is that good though? Last thing I need is to get someone in trouble on my first night here." She scoffed, flicking her wrist as she headed over to her beauty stand. "We're in England not America. You're practically considered an adult here." I chuckled, shaking my head. "But still, try and make sure whoever interests you is eighteen before you get engrossed in a conversation with them. I don't want to have to stick Trent on some old pervert tonight." I laughed nodding my head before her phone started ringing. "Speaking of the devil." I continued laughing, gussying up in her mirror while she answered her phone. "Hey baby! You down stairs?"She continued talking on the phone with her boyfriend as I looked into the mirror, and it was crazy how different I already felt. I felt as gown as I looked but also, I realized that I really was kind of an adult now. I was able to make my own decisions, come home as late as I wanted and get as drunk as I wanted, without having to worry about my parents. "Alright, we're comin down now." Fae said, my eyes focusing on her before I watched her hang up the phone. "You ready?" "Yup!" I replied, making her laugh before we both grabbed our clutches and headed out for what would probably be such an adventure.
