It was an annoying beeping noise that woke me up from a dreamless sleep. I wanted to tell it to shut the hell up, but found it hard to because of the drier than a desert/scratchy feeling my throat was experiencing. I opened my eyes, but winced from the brightness of the room. After I few seconds I opened them again, and I could see from where I was laying the room was familiar. I tried to push myself up on my elbows, but a searing pain in my side sent me falling back to the pillows. I uttered a groan as the throbbing pain continued. I could hear rushed shuffling to the left of me, and they moved closer to my bedside. I turned my head, and I saw that the shuffling came from Haku, who I just realized was next to me the entire time. I could see his eyebrows crinkling in concern, and his eyes were filled with worry.

"You're awake," he proclaimed with relief. "but you're still hurt. So don't make any unnecessary and sudden movements."

I wanted to reply to him, but my throat was to dry. Water? I mouthed to him.

Haku shifted his attention to the dresser next to me, and I could hear the sound of water being poured into what must've been a cup. "Before I give you the cup, let's sit up first. It'll be easier to drink that way." Haku then placed one of his hands on my back, and I pushed myself up with great help from him, although it was still caused me major discomfort. After he made sure I was situated, he handed me the cup of water, which tasted like absolute heaven. I know water doesn't have a taste, but that cup of water, that precious precious cup of water tasted like pure perfection.

"Another, please," I muttered, and another full cup of water was placed in my hand. I downed that one, and the scratchy feeling that was in my throat was gone. "Thank you." I said when my voice was back to normal. I looked around then, and I could see why the room looked so familiar. I was in my room at Lord Yutaka's mansion. The only difference was, there was an I.V. drip that was connected to my left arm (which I just now I realized), and one of those heart monitors that you see in hospitals, only I wasn't in a hospital.

"You're welcome," Haku responded with a smile. "How're feeling?"

"I feel like shit. There's this pain in my side, and it's absolute hell anytime I move. What happened? And how did I end up in here?" I questioned ranted.

"You were cut deeply, probably by whoever you were fighting," Oh yeah, I do remember now! It was that bastard, Yukio's fault. He caught me when I was off guard with his kunai. It's messed up to say, but I was happy he was dead. He was a real creep. "You were losing so much blood when you came back with Reika. You fainted after a few minutes, and we took you back up to your room. Lord Yutaka sent one of his guards to get the doctor that lived in a nearby town. He had the doctor take care of you here, and made sure you would be more comfortable here instead of in a hospital. The doctor was able to heal a large portion of the wound, but there will still be some pain."

"Well, that was kind of him," I stated with a tired smile. I looked around the room for another person who was supposed to be the doctor. "Where's the doctor?"

"She's staying in one of the guest rooms. We were to get her when you woke up. Since you just woke up, I'll go get her now."

"Thanks Haku," I said before he left the room in search of the doctor. I sighed, and moved myself into a more comfortable position against the fluffy pillows on the bed.

I remember what happened. Some people hired by Lord Shigeru attacked the manor at night when almost everybody was asleep. What woke me up was a muffled scream that was coming from Reika's room. It alarmed me, and put me on high alert. I rushed out of my room just in time to see Reika being kidnapped from her. Her kidnapper turned out to be a rogue ninja who was indeed hired by Lord Shigeru. Me and him got in a fight, causing the wound on my side. He was tough, and hard to beat, but I killed him with a stab to the neck. I rescued Reika, and took her back home where I passed out from blood loss. Before I slipped into unconsciousness, I remember before I fell to the ground a pair of familiar arms wrapped around me saving me from gaining a few more bruises. It was Zabuza. Zabuza caught me. Crap, now I have to thank him, even though he's not on my favorite person list right now. But my mother said to always thank someone who helped you, even if you strongly dislike the person because that was the polite thing to do. Manners are key...sometimes.
