Denesha Ross Chester (Mama Snupe)/ June 13, 1995

"One more push, chile!" I heard my mother say. It was June thirteenth of 1995. It was a too hot and tiring summer in Jonesboro, Louisiana to be pregnant. I'm glad I'm finally getting to push my little man out, though.

"...And it's a boy!" The doctors announced like I didn't already know what I was having. The only people in the room where my mom, best friend, and Chalie. 

They placed my small baby boy into my arms, and I started crying harder, because I was already crying from the pain. I mean I am only sixteen, so my body isn't fully developed for all this yet. That's why I almost didn't make it, if they didn't get everything under control before I gave birth.

"Ooh, you know what would be so cute? If you nickname him Snupe, since e'rybody call Addarren, Chalie Brown. You got the whole show right in yo house, you on't need cable!" My best friend, and my baby's god-mother, Angel suggested.

"I actually like that. That works out. First time something stupid ain't cone out yo mouth." Chalie joked.

Angel was gonna come back with something smart to say, but my,momma stopped them before they started clowning.

"You wanna hold him?" He nodded his head grabbing Snupe from me.

He looked so uncomfortable, like he ain't know what he was doing. It was too cute. Charlie just kept staring at him in admiration. I helped him get more comfortable and position his head up right.

"What you naming him? Well first name of course." I asked him. He snapped his head towards me.

"Let's name him Addarren after his daddy, after all he does favor my handsome genes." I smiled at him nodding.

"Addarren La'keith Ross, I like that." I said. He leaned over to kiss my lips.

"I love you."

"I love you too."

4 YEARS LATER

Addarren Ross (Lil Snupe)/ June 13, 1999

It was my 4th birthday, so I was dressed up nice in my Girbaud Jean with some white Reebok, my Neon Windbreaker, and my Raiders snapback. My T-Lady had me dressed to impress for my birthday party.

I really didn't care about the party so much, I just wanted to see my dad, because it's been a minute. He said he was going to show up, but if he doesn't I'm going to be sad. He always says he's going to do something, but never does it.

I should be use to it by now, huh?

Denesha Chester (Momma Snupe)/June 14, 1999

I can't believe this bastard. He's always selling Snupe false dreams.

I feel like it's my fault. I gave him that father, and I should have been wiser, but I was young and dumb. Charlie made me feel special. All the girls wanted him, but he choose me.

I knew he wasn't coming to the party yesterday, and he won't be coming to anymore until Snupe is 18. How could he be so stupid to get himself locked up? Fucking selling drugs and trying to be a king pen. He knows Snupe looks up to him, and he fucked up.

I have to be smarter than that, because I know I'm all Addarren has left.

I'm a woman raising a boy to a man, something his father should do.

Charlie is suppose to call today to tell Snupe what's going on, and it's going to break his heart. He may not have been true to his word, but when he did get Snupe they had a great time together.

4 Days Later

"So what happened to you calling four days ago?" I asked Charlie. He finally decided to call, after I heard he had damn near talked to everyone in Jonesboro. His ass decided to call his son last.

"Mane, I only got a certain amount of time, let me talk to Snupe." He answered annoyed. Hell I'm annoyed at his ass, too.

"Addarren, your father's on the phone." I yelled to him in the other room. He's been down in the dumps every since his party, when asshole didn't show up.

"Hey, pops!" Snupe ran into the room, excited.

"Is that my big boy? How you been, Snupe?" I heard him ask through the phone. I shook my head, I hate when he acts like father of the year.

"I'm good, I got a lot of toys for my birthday!" Addarren said excited. "Where were you, I thought you were coming?"

"Well something came up, but I'll make it up to you, I promise."He said making me scoff. "What do you want pops to bring you?" He asked.

"Nothing, I just wanna see you." Snupe said. Now I'm about to cry. The timer told them they only had one minute left.

"Well, I'm gone be gone for a minute. B-But, when I get back I'll make it up to you, I promise. You have to be a big boy while pops gone and take care of momma for me, okay?" I can hear Charlie getting choked up. I had to walk away then, because I know I was going to start balling.

In the distance I could hear Addarren say, "Okay, and I love you too, pops."
