"The werewolves are attacking our land..." The queen said, getting up out of her throne. Whispers were filling up the room. My pulse would be quickening, if I had one. My heart would be pounding against my chest, if I had one. My face would have gotten hot in panic, but it felt as cold as ever. My breath would fog up glass, if I could breath. Im dead. Well, a vampire anyway. We vampires can't eat, can never feel warmth, have a pulse, a heartbeat. Everything that you could test to see if we were alive, we don't have. Being a vampire can come with perks like living forever (well it could be a flaw as well), running faster, jumping higher, can only die from a stake to the heart... Anyway, about what the queen was saying, the vampires and the wolves have territory. Since those mutts prefer the cold and we prefer the heat, the werewolves have the northern side of the united states and we have the southern. Which is totally okay in my opinion because this means more humans, and more humans equal more fresh, sweet blood... Anyway, the werewolves have a new pack leader, Luka Woodhunter. We vamps like to make fun of his last name because wolves usually hunt in the woods. Ever since he's been new pack leader though, there has been patches of animal fur, blood trails, paw prints, and other signs that the wolves have been on our territory. The queen has become paranoid with this because it's all during the day. Only certain vamps are allowed in daylight. Mainly the ones that go to school or work for the queen. By school I mean vampire schools that our queen hosts so we can learn combat. If you graduate you can keep the daylight necklace. If you don't well, you have to give it back.Anyway, a day after the commotion, I decided to take a break and read a novel called The Vampire Hunters. I went into a white room that was filled with picnic tables, and the wall they were closest to was made out of glass, the sink was on the left side when you walk in, and a microwave to your right. I sat down at a table to the far right corner and pressed myself to the glass. My old human self would have thought the glass was cold and would have flinched, but I couldn't feel the coldness. Then someone opened the door to the "White Room". My friend, Matthew, and my best friend, Jane, came in holding hands and laughing. They were dating. They were really cute together. I was always jealous of them because I didn't have a relationship like that."Hey you two," I said with a smile slowly putting my book down."Hey," Matthew turned towards me and smiled. Jane said hey too, but she was staring at Matthew with the biggest grin. Then there was a banging on the door. Quickly, Matthew grabbed a knife from his pocket. He slowly opened the door. The person that was trying to get in, hit the door while Matthew opened it, knocking both of them on the ground. "Ugh..." Matthew said, hitting the floor with what looked like... a queen's guard? I'm pretty sure the guard mumbled sorry and got off of Matthew. He looked over in my direction, while Jane helped up Matthew. "The queen wishes to speak to Lilly," The guard said. I pointed to myself and gave a look that said, Who? Me? He nodded, and we rushed together to the throne room."Hello little Lilliana," The queen spoke and her voice rang throughout the throne room."H-hi..." I stuttered with a awkward bow."No need for that," The queen spoke, "I called you here for an important reason. You and two of your friends, if you want to bring two of your friends, will be going to California to fight the wolves. Your family and theirs are welcome. You will be living there until the time has come for you to come back." Excitement and confusion welled up in me. California! Wait...why me? I asked myself."You are one of the selected few that will make sure those...Dogs... Don't take over our territory. Please do well on your mission..." the queen finished, "You may go now."The guard led me back to the "white room", bowed and left. Matthew and Jane stood staring at me in silence. Then Matthew walked up to me."So...What happen..." he said looking away from me."We are moving to California to be in the war..." I whispered. Matthew stood there in shock and Jane looked at me. "Are we going too?" she asked. "Yes..." I said, "We are all going."

Time flew by and it was almost daytime. Matthew and Jane walked me home and I told my mom everything that happened. Without a word and an excited look on her face she rushed up stairs, Dragging my four year old brother up too. My dad sighed and slowly went up stairs rolling his eyes. I thought I heard him say "Women". A moment later, after I grabbed a blood bag and finished it, I went up stairs to my room to pack. I packed clothes, a few books, some movies, and different types of shoes. After I was done I brought my suitcase down stairs just to hear my mom to yell that it was bedtime and we have to get up at midnight because the queen wanted us to meet her at her throne room. Once it was midnight, we all took our suitcases and ran to the throne room. When we made it there she told us to take as many weapons as we pleased. The three of us took 9mm pistols and Matthew took a knife made out of silver just in case. We also each took four bricks of 9mm silver bullets. When we were done, we ran from Nevada to California. California was a big place filled with lots of... Food. The thought of blood on my lips...How sweet it would taste...Anyway we headed to Oakland where the queen rented out rooms, It was almost 6:00 am and we were tired. We all went to our rooms. My room was a powder white with a blue door and the bed was a royal red. Two hours later I still layed in my bed, to excited to sleep. I snuck out to the border of California and Oregon. There was a wolf that sat and waited there. Patiently sitting there by the road. Then it looked at me as I came closer to the border it started snarling but I didn't mind. It had the prettiest blue eyes and the whitest fur. He was so pretty. I stood there like an idiot, my eyes widening. It stopped and looked me up and down. His gaze softened and he ran into the trees. I tried to tell him to wait, but the words wouldn't come out.A person came out of the trees dressed in blue jeans and a white t-shirt. The same blue eyes as the wolf. His hair was white as snow. "Vampire, what is it you want?" he asked, sitting down at the base of a tree. A car went past us honking their horn. He held a blank expression, and I shook my head trying not to think about how cute he was."I...Uh...Just...Wanted to...Um...Look..." I said, struggling for words. He chuckled and looked at me with a soft gaze."Your really pretty... For a vamp," He said with a smirk."Your really pretty for a wolf," I mumbled. "Thanks I know," He said with a smile, and ran his fingers through his beautiful hair. "Will you be here tomorrow?" I managed to ask quietly."Yes..." He whispered, then stood up and stretched. I left and scolded myself. A wolf? Are you kidding me? I asked myself running back. No one seemed to notice I was gone so I did it again and again. We had simple conversations. I started falling in love with him. One day, we met up and I asked him to come close. We were both at the very edge. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulled him close and my lips touched his. We were locked in a makeout session. Then he pulled away with a lot of force and a gun went off. Blood splattered my face. It wasn't mine thought. It was his. The smell of wolf blood went everywhere. Jane stood kind of in front of me with a pistol. She was covered in blood. I crouched over his body, tears streamed down my face as I hugged his body. He whispered in my ear that he loved me. Then he took a deep breath and stopped breathing. I screamed at Jane, while holding his limp body in my arms."You are more human than ever Liliana Cruzsher," Jane whispered, backing away.
