Chapter 1: EDITED
I was sitting beside Arianna eating breakfast before heading to Uni, when a picture of Justin Bieber, my idol, popped on the T.V. screen.
"Oh my god, look at him..." I squealed my eyes glued on the screen.
"Not again." Arianna half mumbled half whined. I don't get Arianna sometimes, even though she has been my best friend for a while I still can't believe that she can't accept the fact that Justin Bieber is hot and that he makes great music.
"Why do you hate him so much? You can't be like that. I'm a big Belieber; you should at least admit that he's really hot and sexy. Anybody could see that."
"I don't know why I hate him; seriously just by looking at him I feel the urge to punch him in the face." My best friend explained, and I just rolled my eyes at her.
"Keep with that attitude and I'll never ever shut up about him." I threatened; nobody talks about JB like that in front of me.
"Like you ever do." Arianna glared teasingly.
"God, I envy every girl that met him or saw him in real life. Hey, Arianna... um would you think that if I ever met him he would at least be attracted to me?"
"Look Gabs, you're a beautiful girl, anybody would be lucky to date you. I know there are a lot of guys drooling over you, but we both know that they're not searching for a real commitment, they just what your body. And you know that, this is why you try to put as much distance possible between you and them. You're searching for a real relationship based on love and care. So to answer your question I'm a hundred percent sure Justin Bieber will be attracted to you but who wouldn't, you have a body to die for and unique feminine features. But the real question is, would he care enough to know the real you?" Arianna replied.
That's what I love about Arianna, she's always true to me but she never tried to hurt me or lower my self esteem, she just knows what words to use.
"Thank you Arianna, for everything."
"C'mon Gabs we're gonna be late to class." Arianna reminded me.
"Yeah you're right."
"Um... Gabs can we go shopping after class? I need some new clothes"
"Yeah sure." I replied. "I would love to."
****
I was on my way to my car, after the end of class, when somebody grabbed me by the wrist and turned me around.
As I looked at the person in front of me, I realized that it was Jack a student from the Uni nearby. He had this kind of obsession on me; it was quite annoying to say the least.
"Jack I'm a bit in a hurry. Could you please make it quick?" I asked, trying to be as polite as possible.
"I want to ask you on a date. I adore you Gabriella, why can't you see that." Not again, this is the fifth time in the past two days that he asked me this question and that's without the constant texts and calls I got from him.
"Look Jack you're a nice guy and everything. But the answer is no. I don't wanna hurt your feelings anymore. Please understand." I told him, I'm not the kind of person that dates just to have fun. When I date somebody it's because I like them.
"Am I not good enough for you?" he yelled, gaining the attention of some students that were still in their way out.
"You're a great guy, but I'm just not the right girl for you." I said, I hope this is the last time he asks me out. Without waiting for a respond from Jack, I shrugged his hand and made my way to Arianna.
****
"What took you so long I've been waiting for ages here." My best friend complained.
"Sorry about that, Jack came again and asked me on a date." I defended myself.
"You mean the Jack that has adores you." She mimicked teasingly. Yeah, so maybe she had witnessed a few conversations between Jack and me.
"Could we just forget about that and go to the mall?!" I pleaded; I was not in the mood for Jack and his bullshit.
"Just to make sure you said no, right?"
"ARIANA!" I screamed, glaring at her murderously.
"I just needed to check." She said, putting her hands in surrender.
After that we went to the mall, and as usual we returned with a dozens of bags in hand.
**********
Two year has passed, and I was in need of a job if I wanted to stay in Uni and pay the rent. Because even though my parents suggested that they could continue paying for everything, I declined. I need to depend on myself and start to take responsibilities.
I was in my room, reading a new book I bought, with JB's voice in the background. The song all around the world started playing and I began singing with JB forgetting about the book in my hand.
Suddenly, I was interrupted by Arianna's voice yelling for me to get downstairs. As I didn't want to hear the neighbors' complains about our loud voices, I did as told and went to the living where I knew Arianna would be.
And I was right; she was sitting on one of the sofas opposite the T.V. holding what I think is a... newspaper. Since when was Arianna interested in politics in general.
"I have great news for you." My best friend beamed, a huge smile playing on her lips.
"And what would that be?" I asked, excited.
"I found you a job." She replied, and I started jumping up and down.
"I already called and booked an interview for you." She explained, and I ran and engulfed her with a big bear hug.
"Thank you." I kept repeating over and over again.
"Anything for you. Be ready tomorrow at ten a.m."
"God, finally... And what's the job about?" I asked, wanting to know all the details.
"It's a modeling job." Arianna explained, and I just stared at her blankly.
"M-Modeling? W-Why?" I stuttered, incapable of expressing myself properly. Why would Arianna book me an interview for a modeling job? The thought of modeling never crossed my mind before, so why now?
"Gabs, please why are you underestimating yourself?! You have a great body that can fit into anything. And I've told you that more than a million times before. If I didn't know you had the potentials of being a model I wouldn't have booked you an interview. So can you please trust me on this?!" she replied, looking at me pleadingly, as if telling me that I needed to grab the opportunity and at least try and do my best.
"Fine, I'll go." I said defeated, I trust Arianna and I knew she wouldn't have done that if she didn't know I could do it. But even with everything she said, I was still scared to fail and I didn't want that.
"It's gonna be okay, I promise." My best friend reassured, as if she read my mind.
I smiled at her and gave her one last hug before thanking her and heading upstairs to take a shower and then go to bed. I just hope that everything will be fine, and that Arianna is right. I sure hope so.
