Lucy Heartfilia awoke in Magnolia to a gloomy morning. Looking out the window, she noticed people gathered in their jackets and umbrellas, hoping to remain dry as they went about their daily activities.

'I should really start writing that new chapter for Levy' Lucy pondered. But the prospect of getting out of bed in the early hours of the morning was unappealing to the Celestial Mage. Lucy swiftly stood up and placed her feet on the hardwood floor, bracing herself for the cold.

"Oh- gosh!" exclaimed she. The floor was colder than she had imagined, but when she placed her feet down again, it became less so. It was strange without waking up next to Natsu and Happy, who typically crept in through her window at night and slept close to her, sometimes even snuggling under the blankets. Lucy despised Natsu slipping under because she would wake up wet and sweaty, squandering the bath she took that night.

'I wonder where they are? I'll visit the guild after I do some writing' she decided while walking to the closet to get dressed. Lucy threw on a simple outfit, before making her favorite breakfast. Granola and fresh-cut strawberries on top of French vanilla yogurt. No matter how cold or hot the weather got, it was always her favorite in the morning.  Mira's housemade milkshakes were a close second.

Lucy carried her yogurt to her desk and began working on her book. The chapter she had been working on had been stumping her recently, but staring out the dark window gave her an idea, and rather than sit and ponder about it any longer, she began writing. Lucy didn't stop for what felt like a few minutes when it had actually been three hours, and when she looked up again, it was already ten o'clock.

Lucy hastily grabbed the chapter she'd been working on and threw it into her bag, along with a pencil and a light pen. Lucy stepped down to the front door, slid into her tall boots, and wrapped herself in a scarf to keep warm. Once she was all ready she set out on her walk to the guild. Lucy enjoyed her walks to the guild because they were usually exciting. Magnolia residents were usually up bright and early, busing throughout town to complete their own jobs and errands. Even on this wet day, the townspeople were out and about, unwilling to let the weather stop them.

The rain had stopped and the sun was coming out from behind the clouds, making the cobblestone road seem glossy and smooth. Lucy cheerfully waved to the guys on the boat, who, as usual, urged her not to go off the side into the canal as she balanced on the edge while clutching her umbrella. Lucy arrived at Fairytail's front steps after 10 minutes of maneuvering between puddles and people, and she could immediately hear the rowdy members playing about inside.
