I jolt awake from bed, sweat soaking into the bed and my fingers clinging to the side of the mattress. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest and my lungs aching for oxygen. My eyes were wide and full of fear.
Just another dream.
I glance at my Apple alarm clock. My sleep lasted 3 hours. And I know I'm not going back to sleep any time soon. I released a sigh and laid back down. Nothing terrified me more than these dreams.
Wars. Fires. Cyclones. Tornados. Tsunamis. Flood. Hail. Drought. Blizzards...
Thank god we moved to Jupiter. Earth was hell before it was even bombed with nuclear weapons. Society was broken and animals slowly died off. I remember in history, we learnt how the Earth became so polluted that people had to walk around with air tanks on their backs. They'd have to pay for fresh air and the empty bottles were picked up weekly and replaced with a new supply of air. My mum also told me that at one point, humans became infected with a disease and were so close to dying off that when astronomers found Jupiter to be liveable, there were only 386 people of 49 billion that were healthy enough to move to Jupiter.
When the 386 people made it to Jupiter, there was already a dome awaiting for its travellers. The dome was filled with houses and roads and anything any city needs. As the population started to grow, passages were made and more domes were built around the planet. Every dome is run by its own government. Which makes 53 governments on Jupiter. Each government positions 14 members. However, there is also one major government that looks over every dome. We call them 'The Watchers'. They have 24 hour surveillance in every dome. They know all your personal details and every feature of your fingerprint. A little creepy, I know.
Now, the year is 2492. Apple was recreated and improved majorly. The whole system runs off Apple appliances. Coffee machines, toasters, electric blankets...Everything you can possibly think of is designed by Apple. Even people. Apple designed robotic humans to farm foods in the unpopulated areas left of Jupiter. The atmosphere outside the dome is still unbreathable after all these years of development. No ones managed to figure out how to make the air breathable out there yet, which is fairly surprising. But there's no point in assuming they won't. They know everything these days.
