Breaking Up Season [Eunhyuk x Heechul]

Christmas is a season of breaking up.  At least that's what Heechul thinks because for the last three Christmas seasons, he broke up with his three past boyfriends.

Today is December 1.  Heechul is dreading that he and his current boyfriend, Eunhyuk, might be breaking up soon before this month ends.

"Hey, Heechul. I'm going to spend Christmas at my grandma's place so I'll be gone on December 20-26. I'll be back on 27."

"Are you really going there for your grandma or for your childhood sweetheart or puppy love?"

Eunhyuk instantly got the hint of Heechu's jealous tone. "Do you want to come with me then?"

Heechul liked that idea so he could keep an eye on Eunhyuk but... "Your family doesn't know your gay."

"I'll just introduce you as a friend for a start then maybe later I could gain the courage to confess to them and if not, I'll just try again next year."  Eunhyuk smiled and gave Heechul's hand a light squeeze.

Heechul's anxiety just raised up to another level.

Heechul started to think that maybe it wasn't a good idea to go with Eunhyuk after all.  Eunhyuk's grandmother had a new neighbor.  A pretty girl named Hyoyeon, who lives with her own grandmother as well.  Eunhyuk's family and Hyoyeon's grandmother are teasing and pairing them up.  Heechul can't do anything about it.

Eunhyuk tried to tone down Heechul's jealousy with stolen hugs, kisses and touches or reassurance but there are times when Heechul would push him away.  "Heechul, you know that I only love you right?"

"Today, right now, yeah.  A few days later? Who knows? You might develop feelings for Hyoyeon which would probably be a good thing considering how much your family likes her and you wouldn't have to tell them that you used to be gay."  Heechul had a feeling that this is a start of their breaking up process.

"I've danced with a lot of women before.  I've been teased and paired up with them but you didn't give a damn about it.  I thought you trusted me and knew damn well that I love you.  Why is this any different from before? What makes you so damn jealous and insecure right now?!?!"

"Because it's Christmas."

"What?" Eunhyuk asked, dumbfounded and not sure if he heard it right.

"To me, it's a season of breaking up."

"Heechul, may I talk to you? It won't take long."  It was Eunhyuk's father.

"Of course, sir."  Heechul started to feel nervous.

"I just want to be honest.  I don't want you hanging out around my son."

"And why is that?"

"Because you're so obviously gay and I don't want my son to become like you."

"Eunhyuk, there's something I want to tell  you."  Heechul took a deep breath to encourage himself. "I'm breaking up with you and I'm going back to Seoul in 3 hours."

"I thought you wanted us to spend Christmas and New Year together." Eunhyuk caressed Heechul's cheek. "What made you break up with your past boyfriends? Why does our relationship have to be the same?"

"It's not the same." Heechul explained. "My first boyfriend was actually a two-timer. I learned about it during Christmas when I witnessed him dating with the other guy so I broke up with him. The second guy pretended to be spending Christmas with his family in the province when he's actually going back to meet up with his childhood sweetheart. The third was that I never had feelings for him to begin with and his feelings for me simply faded out. We broke up during Christmas."

"What about the fourth guy?" Eunhyuk asked, referring to himself.

"His father doesn't know about his son being gay but he told his son's friend, who is obviously gay, to stay away from his son."

"So you're breaking up with me simply because my father told you to stay away from me?"

Heechul only had good intentions and spoke out. "I don't want you to end up like me. My father and I used to be like bestfriends but the moment he knew about my sexuality, we started fighting a lot and I was eventually disowned. I don't want you to go all through that hurt."

"Heechul, I guess I never told you before but my father and I never got along. If he's going to disown me, I'm fine with that. Heck, I'm expecting him to do exactly that. When I said about confessing to my family, I'm only worried about my grandma, mom and sister's feelings but they're kind and I just know that they'll accept me somehow sometime."

They were silent for a moment, simply staring at each other and holding hands until Eunhyuk spoke up again.  "Are you still going to break up with me?"

"No but I'm still going back to Seoul in... " Heechul looked at his watch. "...about 2 hours and 45 minutes."

"Okay, I'm going back with you. Just give me 15 minutes to talk to my family."

Thirty minutes later, Eunhyuk and Heechul were sitting in a bus on their way back to Seoul. It's snowing and humid outside.

"What did they say?"  Heechul asked.

"My parents didn't say anything.  They're probably too shock.  Grandma said that we should visit her together sometime and that you were pretty like a girl anyway." Eunhyuk laughed while grabbing Heechul's hand and squeezing it lightly.

"I'm not just pretty. I'm prettier than girls."  Heechul said, flicking his hair with his free hand and laughed. "I'm glad we have her blessing at least. and I'm really glad that we'll be spending Christmas together." Heechul leaned closer to kiss Eunhyuk.

December 25. 12:30 AM.

Heechul and Eunhyuk's moment of happiness was interrupted by a phone call.

"Hello, dad?" Eunhyuk answered his phone, nervously.

"Merry Christmas, son."

"Merry Christmas to you too and mom."

"Greet your boyfriend for us too."

Eunhyuk was momentarily shocked.  "O...kay... does that mean...?"

"Your mom and I decided to try to accept him. I honestly didn't like him at first for being gay but I'll try to get to know him more than just his sexuality. What do you say about spending the New Year's together?"

Heechul took the phone from Eunhyuk's hand. "Mr. Lee, thank you for giving me a chance and I'll be happy to spend the New Year with your family and especially with your son."

"Okay. I'll see you both on New Year."

Heechul and Eunhyuk had a long sigh of relief after Eunhyuk's father hanged up. "Well, that's a good start." Eunhyuk smiled.

"Yeah."  Heechul agreed and went back to unwrapping the Christmas present that Eunhyuk gave him which turned out to be a hot pink skinny jeans. "It's good to know that my fashion sense has influenced you."

"Not really. I just thought you'd look hot in them and immediately bought it."

"I love it. I'll try it on."

But Heechul only had a minute to try it on and show off before Eunhyuk jumped on him, trying to get inside his pants.

A year later when Christmas comes around, Heechul doesn't have to deal with breaking up anxiety issues anymore knowing that Eunhyuk will be there to love him. Another best thing that happened was that Eunhyuk's family had accepted Heechul. After being disowned years ago, Heechul finally felt that he belonged to a family once again.
