I looked at the sunset reflecting on the surface of the water.
The crimson colors of the sunset made it seem warm in a way.
Spring had just arrived and on a day like this I had decided to make my way to the beach.
The deep blue water looked peaceful,
you would expect it to be cold but it was in fact slightly warm.
Whatever it was the beach here had never failed to cheer me up.
These moments wouldn't last long though, because it all disappears once I wake up..."Mary, wake up!"
That's my mom screaming."Yes mom, I'm up!!" I answer.
I get out of bed and put on my school uniform.
Before I walk out the door I take a seat at the old fashioned desk across my bed on the other side of the room. The table and chair was a set I had gotten from my grandmother as a kid.
It was what she had been using when she was young.
It didn't really match the atmosphere of the rest of the room but I had always kept it.
I was told to never throw it away.
My mom on the other hand thought it was silly keeping something so worn out and suggested buying a new set to replace it with.
But I told her I liked it as it was.
In my room there was also a window with a view covering the whole city.
Sometimes I'd sit by it and sketch out the buildings or even the people down there.
My wall was covered in those sketches.
The desk has different drawers and compartments and out of them all there is one drawer which requires a key to open.
I had always kept the key on a chain around my neck.
The key was a little rusty but still of a very beautiful gold color.
I unlocked the drawer and took my diary out.
It was a thick book with worn down edges.
I started writing down what had happened in the dream.
It was more of a journal of my dreams than a diary when I thought of it.
Although there wasn't much events in my dreams to describe I would always describe the mood, weather and sounds I would hear and draw pictures to them.
As soon as I finished I would never forget to put the book back inside the drawer and lock it up.
But this day something was different, as I got my things ready I got totally distracted and forgot to close my journal and lock it up.
I ran down the stairs as my mom called me.
Breakfast was ready and the news was on.
I prepared my breakfast and sat down besides my dad.
He asked me if I had heard about the weather.
"No what's wrong with it?" I asked.
"It seems like a storm is coming." He said
It had never been that uncommon with storms around here so I didn't think to worry about it.
"I see" I said
Once I was done with breakfast I prepared to head out.
I put on a pair of water resistant boots and took a umbrella with me before heading out.
I stepped out the door and to my surprise it was already raining.
"That's strange I thought the weather wouldn't act up until noon?" I thought
