Beyond the rain

After the dance which brought many eyes towards our direction we decided to step aside.

"Mary would you fancy a drink this evening?" Rikyu asks me.

I nod with the slightest hesitation.
He smiles at me and hands me a glass of red wine.

"Red wine..." I say

"Oh, sorry would you have preferred something else?" He asks.

"Eh... ah no this is good. Thank you" I say.

As I'm trying not to hide the fact I have no experience with ever drinking wine or any alcohol for that matter. But I still end up sounding kinda unnatural with my voice cracking.

Since I was technically still a minor I probably shouldn't have accepted it but it was already too late.
Without thinking I gulped the whole glass down.

"I guess you're a fan of wine huh." Rikyu says.
While barely holding in his laughter.

I quickly realize what I've done and before I can talk back I feel my body shiver and dropping to the ground.

"Mary? Are you okay!" He asks me.

Rikyu catches me before I fall down on the ground.
I lose my consciousness and faint in his arms.
After what seems like only a few seconds later for me I wake up in the same room from earlier.
And I feel my throat starting to itch. Somehow it feels dry.
My teeth start to ache as well and before I know it my hand is on my neck.

"I'm... thirsty..." I say.

I hear the handle of the door being turned and quickly turn my head towards the door.
It's Rikyu, he smiles and approaches me holding a glass of water and medicine.
I see his lips moving but the words aren't reaching me. I feel my heartbeat rising and all I can focus on is his bare neck underneath his shirt.

He walks towards me with confident steps and crouches down to look at my face.

"Hey you seem out of it, are you sure you're okay. I brought you a glass of water, want some?" He says.

No words comes out of my mouth.
I feel strangely dizzy.
I move closer to him and grab his collar pulling him towards me.

"Mary?" He asks

I bring my mouth closer to his neck.
I want to dig my teeth deep into the flesh on his neck. I caught myself thinking.
Rikyu embraces my body back but abruptly pushes me away lightly and stares at me with wonder.

"Are you... possibly interested in me?" He says.

I push him back into an embrace and lick his neck.
Then dig what seems like a pair of fangs into his neck.
Rikyu jumps.
Thick deep red blood runs down his neck and the corners of my mouth.
But as I feel my own consciousness slowly coming back I'm horrified once I realize just what I've done.
He pushes me away roughly and I land on the bed.
I touch my lips and stare down at my fingers stained bright red.

"I- I- what's going on?..." I say.
I get up and run towards the mirror.
Blood in running from the corners of my mouth and I have fangs.
I turn towards Rikyu.

"So you were a vampire? I didn't even know, you're good at hiding it." He says.
Then he clicks his tongue.

"I had a hunch you were special... but a vampire? Ah ah man what waste of time." He says.
