Its night and the full moon is giving everything an eerie glow. I’m running, running away from the Trizex. I look back, they’re about 200 meters behind. My legs want to stop badly, but I keep running. My legs might give up any moment now.

I look around desperately and spot a cave. I take a sharp turn to confuse the Trizex, then go around to enter it. After getting in, I stop and kneel down, catching my breath. Whoa, I can’t explain how relieved I am. I hear people talking, their voices getting louder and louder.

“You useless pack of filthy good for nothings lost her!” Razack screams angrily.

“Sire, she can’t be far away. We can still find her” Adira tries to console him.

“Shut up!” Razack screams. “Lex! Where is she?”

“Si-sire she’s nearby” Lex replies nervously.

  “WHERE you idiot!?”

  “In a cave”

“In WHICH CAVE!? If you don’t tell properly, I’m afraid you won’t be able to feel your hands again” Razack threatens.

I should move out before I get a welcome party from the Trizex. I peep out, they’re close. No, I can’t get out now, unless I want to be best friends with lovely Razack.

I turn to see behind the cave. By what is visible, I see five big holes. Each leading to where I don’t know. God knows what lies in there. I struggle to make a decision, but I find myself running into one of the holes when I hear Lex saying, “That one”

I keep running, take random turns, stop, then continue running. It’s so dark in here, I can barely see anything. The only source of light is the moonlight sweeping through the tiny holes above. After awhile, I stop near a small pond. I drink the water thirstily; I don’t care if it’s contaminated. I need to survive. I can’t hear the Trizex anymore, I’m alone here now. All alone in this dark creepy maze.

I’m so tired, so hungry. I feel helpless. I don’t want to die, not now, not here. I start crying.

  “What happened?”

I look up, stunned. I see Alex standing with his arms crossed, his face sorry.

I cry more now. Happiness, relief, hope, everything swarms into me. I wipe my tears and stand.

“Alex, what are you doing here?” I say between sniffs.

"I should ask you the same question" He smirks. “I like to explore by the way”

“Do you know the way back?” I ask hopefully.

“I don’t know the whole cave, there’s a lot more to it, but I’ve been coming to this cave for quite awhile, so I know the way back”

“Take me back, now, please” I plead.

“Okay, follow me” He holds my hand gently and starts walking towards the exit. My hands feel safe and warm in his hands. “What are you doing here?” He asks.

“Oh, I wanted to explore too, but I got lost” I lie. I can’t tell him the truth, he will think I’m crazy. Oh, and I’m getting better at lying.
