"The moment I met him was magical. His penetrating eyes met mine and in that moment I knew, looking right into his gaze I understood everything, I knew it and I felt it. I was going to fall in love with him". –Rachel

Camila listened attentively to Ally as the letters on the computer screen turned blurry because of her tears. Camila had tried to follow Jason's lie with Ally, but she hadn't believed a single word. Her best friend knew her perfectly. The music in the background played loudly.

Camila sighed as she listened to her friend. She knew Ally was right in everything she said. But she was still defending her husband in front of her best friend. Ally knew her full story with Jason. But what she didn't understand was that part of the guilt was on Camila's side for not being what Jason expected from a wife. She was just like her mother. Most of the time she was useless. And she understood why Jason got angry and lost patience.

"Ally, you should be with your boyfriend and stop worrying about me," Camila whispered with sadness. "I'm fine, I'm trying to keep writing my book. And Jason's enjoying the party."

"Your idiot husband dared to tell me you were ill," Ally said. "I swear to you I always try to see the good in others. I think we all have some good inside. But in Jason I find nothing good. I don't like the way he treats you, I don't like the things he does to you. And I hate that you defend him like this."

"He's right in the sense that I always make mistakes," Camila whispered. "But I don't want to talk about this, Ally. Enjoy your night. I'm going to sleep."

"I can't believe you let yourself be humiliated like this, Camila," Ally said as her boyfriend rubbed her back. "That guy is worthless. He doesn't treat you the way you deserve. He's hateful and I feel guilty I introduced you two."

"You don't have to blame yourself for anything, Ally," Camila sighed. "It is what it is."

"Sure, it is what it is that your husband treats you like..." Ally exhaled. "You know how he treats you, Camila."

"Can we just drop it for tonight, Ally?" Camila took a deep breath. "I honestly don't want you to keep repeating yourself."

"You don't want to listen because you know I'm right," Ally said coldly. "Please, Camila. What other proof do you need than tonight? He didn't bring you to his prom party. You! A successful woman filled with accomplishments."

"This night is his, not mine, Ally," Camila answered. "Just let him enjoy it with his friends. He deserves a night that's just for him."

"Enjoy it with his friends?" Ally said, baffled. "His night? Camila, you're his wife. He should share this night with you, the one that practically gives him everything."

"Ally, please don't say that," Camila said and quickly lied back on the sofa, staring at the ceiling with a sad look on her face. The emptiness of the house started to dawn on her. She was completely alone. "You know that's not true."

"You're husband isn't worth it, Camila. Please wake up and understand what he's doing to you." Ally's voice sounded sad. "Just realize what he's making you become."

"Jason's my husband, Ally," Camila said coldly. "Now please go back to the party and enjoy it with your boyfriend."

"Well you should stick up for yourself." Ally couldn't contain herself. "You think you're the only successful wife? Wait until you hear who's here with her husband right now. A man that does treat her right. And she's very famous. Even you know her, she's La—"
