Monsters
A large group of teens where gathered around a large bonfire. The fire in the middle of the group danced around, giving an eerie light on the faces of the kids. One kid on the right side stood up. "If we are to win this battle, we need to draw them into the forest." The kid sat down again, and another took his place.
"Yeah, but that'd be like getting us into their store!" the kid sat down again, and the only sound was the sound of the forest. After sometime, the smallest of the group stood up, a pitch black shadow.
"That may be so Trever, but it's going to have to happen. We must send one of our own to lure them outside." Whispers broke out, and the kid remained standing. Three of the largest shadows stood, and the middle, the biggest, spoke.
"Martin, what you have said is true," the voice boomed out. "But none of us will go." Martin stood and thought.
"None of the boys. But I know the perfect two." he decided. Heads were swinging back and forth like a tennis ball match. The one on the left carefully spoke.
"If you know everything Martin, then who?" he spoke challengingly. The fire flicked slightly to show Martin's handsome face.
"Maggie Moon and Angeline Martonie." Gasps sounded around the camp fire. The shadow on the right side's hands clenched. "Maggie Mooney and Ang Mar?" the angry voice of a female sounded. The whispering went silent suddenly. The right figure stepped forward, so she shone in the fire. "You want my best friends to be put into that great of a harm?" she challenged. Despite her withering glare, Martin stood tall.
"Yes, Caitlyn. I believe they would fit the most in with them. Considering they were once Dreamers too." he chuckled. Caitlyn stepped around the fire calmly. Everything was silent. No one dared to move or speak, and even the birds and crickets could notice the up coming storm.
"That is exactly why they will not be going in." Caitlyn reached out and grasped the kids shirt. "Why don't you go?" she challenged. A soft and gentle hand on Caitlyn's shoulder forced her to drop the withering kid.
"Martin has a point." the voice soothed. "They'll be all right. We'll just change them up." Caitlyn's shoulders drooped, and she remained silent for a second. A kid on the other side of the fire sneezed, and Caitlyn jerked upward.
"But Aiden!" she protested. "They're in the most danger!" she said, sobbing into his shoulder. Aiden patted her back.
"Come back to the Head Log." he said, guiding her back to where she sat, and sat on the other side of the tall figure, who was still standing. Caitlyn cried silently into her hands. The leader glanced down at her, and turned back to the group of kids.
"Firelight Council of the Monsters, we are going to take a vote. All in favor for the mission of Maggie Moon and Angeline Martonie raise your hand." Quiet hands slipped up. Soon, the whole circle of kids had their hand raised, except Caitlyn. "Then it is. As president of the Monsters, it is now decided that Maggie Mooney and Angeline Martonie will be leaving on Monday morning. Meeting is dismissed."
