31 December 2003
Today was a scary day. We were supposed to be celebrating New Year's Eve as a family, but when my dad came home, my mom started screaming at him. My dad shouted back, and soon enough they started throwing things at each other. I was so scared and so sad at the same time. All I wanted was a peaceful dinner with a living family. I tried to step in- in fact I did step in, with my tears bawling out as I plead "Mom, dad, please stop throwing things at each other!"
All they did was scream back "DON'T INTERFERE WITH ADULT AFFAIRS. YOU'RE ONLY 5, YOU KNOW NOTHING" My maid quickly pulled me away and brought me to take a shower. My sister was hiding in our room wrapped in a blanket. I can hear her breathing heavily. She must have felt as terrible as I did.
On New Year's Eve, all we did was soak our blankets with tears.
When I woke up this morning, I saw all my mom's shoes missing in the shoe rack. All her stuff was gone too.
I knew then that 2004 will be a very different year.
