I'm fairly local, I've been around...Rick's P.O.V ;
Music blasts through my headphones as I walk down the path, white covering everything it can and setting off waves of cold that could sends shivers down anyone's spine; well, for most people anyways. Feeling the crunch under my boot and my nose start to turn red from the nasty bites of the cold winds, I come to a stop when I see a 'bus sign' that I stand next to 5 days a week; and no, my time-tables not the 'typical' week, my uni days go from Sunday- Thursday.
"Sure is cold, huh?" I hear a soft but not quite voice next to me, taking off my headphones and leaving them around my neck. 'Odd, this never happens. Wonder if he's a new student or just moved here...'. I turn my head to see someone I haven't seen before, but he certainly looked like a new uni student; folder in hand and what looks to be a 'half-stuffed' bag of whatever (probably books and stuff).
"Yeah, um, it's quite a bite." I respond, same tone but still looking at him. He turns his head and gives a smile. "Say, are you new around here? I haven't seen you before." I asked, watching as his smile seemed to grow a bit wider. "Yeah, I'm Blake. I just moved here last week. But how could you tell I'm new?" He asked, seeming to shy away a bit when asking the question, his cheeks dusting with a light pink; probably not one for talking a lot.
"Once you live here for a few months, you'll know everyone; It's a small town. I'm Rick, by the way." I responded, taking my hand out from my pocket and offered my hand for him to shake. His big smile came back and shook my hand before we both had our hands retreat back to the pockets of our hoods.
"Alright. Um......are you going to university here?" He asked, his tone one of feeling probably a bit awkward and not knowing what to say; again, he seems to be not one for talking a lot. "Yeah, what about you?" I respond, wanting to keep the conversation going... and also not wanting to be rude.
"Yeah. I take classes for art and languages. In fact, it's the reason why I'm here." He said, a bit of cheerfulness clear in his voice. The more I look at him, the more I started to notice certain things about him (like anyone else); his deep green eyes seems to be a bit wide and big, brown hair messed up but still looks nice, his nose and cheeks bright red from the snows bite stand out on his pale, white skin.
"What about you? What classes do you take?" He says, turning his head to look at me from whatever he was looking at across the road; maybe he saw something in the forest, it is a beautiful looking forest I will admit, with all the snow piled onto the pine-leaves.
"Um...i take music and language as well. What language do you take?" I asked, curious if we take the same class or not. "Huh, I take Japanese. But I'm also learning Cantonese from a friend back home." He replies, a small smile plastering itself onto him. "Hey, i take Japanese too. We'll be in the same class." I smiled wider, realising his in my class; the people in my university can be kind-of.......rude and dumb, not the kind-of stuck-up, arrogant people you would want to meet.
"Oh, nice. It's nice to know at least one person before actually going." He said, smile growing bit by bit. He looks down his shoes before we both snap our heads to see a bus arriving. Wind-shield wipers on to keep the snow from piling up or sticking in different directions.
"Just so you know, there is only one bus in town." I told him, looking at him before turning my vision back to the bus, that was just pulling up. The door opens and Blake goes first, up the stairs and before he could turn to the row of seats, the bus driver catches his wrist. "Your new to town, aren't you?" He asked, his morning voice still there, raspy and hurous. "Yeah, im Blake." He replied, sending him a smile. A small growl builds up in my chest, for some unknown reason. "Welcome then, I hope your stay is great." He says with a smile, before letting go of him and leaving him to pick a seat.
