Chapter 1Childhood...
Maria's POV
I was about two years old when grandpa started building this thing in his secret lab in the shuttle. He never played or told stories with me. Everyday he went into that lab and worked. He wouldn't let me go in there. I started growing up and losing interest in grandpa. It had been two years now and I heard grandpa talking to himself. He shouted that he was finished!
He opened the door and asked me to come in. I came in and a black hedgehog was wrapped in blankets in a small crib. I looked at him and he was so cute.
"Grandpa,what's his name...?"
"I named him... Um... Shadow... The hedgehog..."
He smiled and he told me if I wanted to take him into my room and play with him. I ran in there and set him on the ground. He started crawling around in the room and he crawled under my bed.
I poked my head in there and he smiled. I took him out of there and sat him on the ground. I gave him a toy and he threw it. He raised his arms in the air and sniffed. He bended his fingers continuously and whined. I picked him up and he rolled into a ball and snuggled against my chest. I smiled.
11 years later....
Maria's POV(still)
I awoke early in the morning in my nightgown and ran to Shadow's door. I knocked a couple times. He wouldn't answer.
Shadow's POV
"Argh..."
I groaned as I heard knocking on my door. I covered my face with my blanket and tried to go back to bed. The door opened,then it was real quiet. I sighed and closed my eye again.
"Gotcha!"
"Ahh! M-Maria... S-s-stop... I'm,I'm ti-ticklish!!!"
I said as she tickled me in bed. I laughed so hard tears came out of my eyes. She stopped and I sighed.
"Good morning!"
"Morning... Hey,why did you wake me up so early...?"
"I just wanted to see you... And don't forget you have to read me a night story tonight..."
"Okay... Hey,where's the professor..."
"I think grandpa is in his room still sleeping..."
"Oh..."
"Hey,want to go slide in the hallways...?"
"Maria,we'll wake him up... And you know I was build to protect not to goof around..."
"Please...?"
"Urgh..."
"Please!?!"
"Okay,fine..."
I got out of bed and left my socks on. She followed and slid through the waxed hallways. I took her hand and we slid together. I grabbed both of he hands and we spun in circles. We were having lots of fun.
"Whoa,Maria!"
We ran into a closet and stuff went out everywhere. We laughed and giggled. Then I stopped as I saw the professor in front of the closet doorway. I gasped.
"Uh... Professor... I was helping Maria,clean this closet out... And I fell in,then she fell with me..."
"Oh Shadow,you know better than this... I'm really disappointed in you..."
I dropped my ears and let my head hang. I sighed.
"Yes,professor... I'll go to my room..."
I walked away leaving Maria behind. I opened my door and saw he before I shut it. I laid on my bed. I looked at a picture of Maria and I when we were small...
