Complex Differences

Chapter 1

Aviana

I was waiting for Breasia and Audra to get to school so we could discuss how tryouts would go but they were taking forever. It's almost time for first period and they still aren't here, they make me so mad always late. They finally came five minutes before the bell and I was so mad at them so I'll just wait until lunch to discuss with them. My idea for tryouts was have all the eleventh and twelfth graders go together because that's what varsity is for. So I want Audra, Breasia and I to teach them a cheer, dance and make them do basic gymnastics nothing extreme. I was in first period and I seen the boy that helped me with my biology work. He didn't see me so I didn't bother with speaking because I never seen him in the class but maybe its because I don't pay attention to my surroundings like I should. When the classwork was being passed out I felt someone staring at me so I looked over and it was him but he looked away before I could speak so I pretty much just shrugged it off. When I finished my classwork there was still five minutes left of class so I just decided to text the group chat Audra, Breasia, and I share to tell them that I had to tell my idea for tryouts this year. After I sent it there was someone now standing beside me and it was him I know my boundaries because I've been talking to this boy for some time now so he better not try anything.

"Hey you know I never got your name from when I helped you in biology." He said.

"Oh. Well my name is Aviana but most people call me Avi but that's only if you'd like." I said politely.

"Well my name is Evonte' but I like to go by Tay." He said.

"Why don't you go by your regular your name is unique because I've never heard it before." I said.

"I like it as well but Tay is just short and simple. You know what I mean kind of like you going by Avi instead of Aviana. He said.

"Okay well now it makes more sense. We should be friends." I said with a genuine smile.

"Sure. I can give you my number if that's okay." He said with a slight smile.

"Okay that's fine." I said as we swapped phones to put our numbers in them.

When I got my phone back he put himself under Evonte' with a smirk emoji. In his phone I put my name just kept it plain and simple. Soon after our encounter class was over and I was headed to second period I bumped into my soon to be boyfriend Jonathan we hugged as soon as we figured out who one another was. I soon realized he wasn't in the mood just by the short responses he was giving me.

"How's your day going?" I said.

"Good." He said.

"Are you going to call me tonight?" I said.

"Yeah, sure." He said in a rush.

After that I just let him go but I'm not letting him get away with it because we still had two minutes to get to second period but whatever. Soon after second period was over it was time for lunch. Audra and Breasia asked me about my idea and once I told them they agreed they liked it and it was something new since we did tryouts individually every year and that's a lot of pressure for one person. After that we talked more about other things then I finally said something about the encounter Jonathan and I had.

"So what happened?" Audra asked.

"Well he seemed like he was in a rush giving me short answers like "yeah" and "sure" like is that what we do now." I said.

"Oh no see I'm not having that you need to talk to him or I will and I'm not playing Avi." Breasia said agitatedly.

"Oh my goodness. Alright dang I'll talk to him but later." I sighed.
