Ellie's POV

When I was 3 life was easy, all I worried about was friends and drawing. Nobody hurt me or made fun of me it was just me, Lucas and the the other orphan kids. Everyone played with each other. Now it's a whole different story. I still have not been adopted and now girl trouble is starting.

Other the past few days Alice the mean girl has been acting like a jerk saying

"Oh look Ellie trying to flirt with Lucas" or like "Hey who are you again.. Oh yeah the girl who has no friends."

She's just been really annoying. And her friends aren't making it any better. The only people I can actually count on are Lucas and Kenzie. We talk about everything. By now it's November almost Christmas and my dream to find my parents are still bright.

Angie calls us for dinner, as usual and we pray and eat. She asks us how our day went and everyone talks except me. I hope she doesn't notice; but she does.

"Ellie how about you?"

Everyone turns to look at me and the room goes silent. I respond.

"Umm.. it was fine"

As she looked away, I knew I would have to stay after dinner and explain everything.

Dinner was unusual, it seemed as there was a secret. A secret that involved me. After dinner I stayed with Angie and she told me to explain. All I told her was that Alice and her friends were being mean. She told me she would have a chat with her, but rI begged her not. That would only make things worse.

As I made my way upstairs I overheard Lucas talking to his friends. JAke asked him

"Hey you know that girl Ellie, why do you hang out with her, are you friends with her because you feel bad or what's the deal?

I was anxious to hear Lucas answer possibly all the answers to my questions on his feelings for me could be answered. All I heard was "Yeah" but then Alice pushed me and I fell off the stairs. Everything went black but I could still hear. I could hear Lucas voice saying "Angie come quick"

Then I was carried and that's all I remember.
