"Come on guys we don't want to be late!"

I turned around to open the the door.

I froze in place, fear evident in my eyes.

"What's wrong April?"

"My hand just passed through the door"

--Three months before--

I wake up on the floor, my alarm clock blaring in my ear. Not the best way to wake up, especially on the first day of school. I look at my alarm clock, and see I actually have time to get ready. I go to the bathroom, wash my face, brush my teeth, and comb through my hair.

Whoa, I'm getting ahead of myself. Hi, I'm April, and I'm 15 years old. I live with my dad, sister that is a pain in the neck, and a brother. Life's pretty good for me.

I have sun-kissed skin, carolina blue eyes, and dark blue dyed hair. I usually where jumpers, with ballerina sandals. Its my signature style, and you can see me from a mile away.

Back to the story, I head downstairs for breakfast. Pancakes, as usual, with ice cream on top.

"Morning sweetheart. How'd you sleep?"

"Morning dad. Pretty good, considering I woke up on the ground and don't even remember falling."

He chuckles as he shakes his head. He puts the pancakes on a plate and goes to the freezer for the ice cream.

"Two scoops?"

"You know it."

"Coming right up."

I turn around to see both of my siblings tumble down the stairs. They're twins, and you can tell. They look like me, but have greenish yellow eyes and jet black hair like I used to have. They're in the same grade as me. They would have been in the 8th grade, but they're crazy smart. You can obviously tell who's the oldest though.

"Look who decided to grace us with their presences."

"Shut up April.", they mumble at the same time, like the twins they are.

"Hurry up you two. Breakfast will be cold if you don't."

Both of their eyes light up at this. They run, trying to be the first at the table. My brother, Adrian, like always is first. My sister, Alice, huffs, annoyed, before slumping in her chair.

"No fair you always win."

Adrian responds by sticking his tongue out at her. She rolls her eyes and starts to chow down on the food on front of her. We all start doing the same thing and eat in silence. When I'm done I put my plate in the dishwasher and go to grab my backpack.

The twins tumble in as well, and bicker over which backpack they are going to use this year. It ends up that Adrian gets the black one with neon sprinkles. Alice complains how it was no fair because she always got the plain mint green one. It's only the first year, but I let her vent.

"Let's go kiddos!", my dad yells from the door.

"Coming!", my siblings and I say in unison.
