December 24th, Christmas Eve.
People were walking around town. Couples were holding hands, gifts, kissing. Families were having fun time, kids were running around and pointing at every cute toy.
Then there were those who didn't have lovers. They hung out with friends, joking around and going to a karaoke, exchanging gifts and laughing. They would go into one of their houses and celebrate.
And then there was Iwaizumi.
He didn't have any family where he was, all his family was in the other side of the country, having fun time and not caring to call him. His friends were away somewhere, celebrating with their loved ones. His loved one..well he didn't have one.
It's not that he wasn't ready for relationships, the one he loved was with his family. And also, the one he loved didn't know that he loved him. Oikawa didn't know about Iwaizumi's never dying love for him.
Iwaizumi was walking around town, trying to buy a few gifts for himself and for others. Even though they weren't here with him, they would come visit sooner of later.
He has been doing this for a few years now. Graduating from the university meant that he finally started his real life, yet he didn't expect this loneliness. The first time he celebrated holidays alone, he even teared up.
It hurt being alone during this festive time of the year.
He couldn't help but notice the colorful lights all around him, they were magnificent. The smell of hot coffee and fresh cookies filled the streets as the local bakery opened it's windows.
That's where Iwaizumi worked.
He headed to that place and walked in. His manager, who was the only one working, noticed him.
"Hajime! Merry Christmas!" Ukai said.
"Merry Christmas to you too, Keishin-san" Iwaizumi smiled at him.
Keishin always worked till every last minute, just so he could go home to his family and feel free, knowing that he sold out every last cookie. Speaking of his family, he was a married man, had two little kids. His husband Takeda and him adopted those two peep-squeaks on Christmas too.
This holiday is something else, isn't it?
"Gonna help me this year too?" Ukai asked and started placing the good on the counters.
"Ofcourse, how could I leave you alone in this madness?" Iwaizumi chuckled and took his apron.
"I'm thankful. I really am. Maybe you want to celebrate Christmas with my family this year? Takeda won't mind at all. Makoto and Nagisa like you too" Ukai suggested, but Iwaizumi shook his head.
"No, I'll pass. It's your family time" he smiled at Ukai. He did want to take the offer, but he couldn't just barge into someone's house on this day.
Work wasn't hard. All Iwaizumi had to do was prepare the dough and form it. A bunch of fresh and tasty cookies filled the crates, people came and bought. Of course, having Iwaizumi as a worker here was also a good thing, what group of girls wouldn't want to look at a handsome baker boy?
A few hours went by quickly and every thing was sold out. Ukai thanked Iwaizumi and invited him again, but Iwaizumi once again refused.
"Well.. Merry Christmas" Ukai said and handed Iwaizumi a small present. Iwaizumi did the same.
Takeda and the kids came to the shop, just so they could all happily go home. Makoto and Nagisa jumped onto Iwaizumi and stuffed his pockets with candy.
