I'm not really the four-hundred page story teller but I do like short storys. There was a 12 year old girl that lived in a small city. Her name was Rosa Mary Anderson. Her single mother worked full time at a department store. Money was scarce but no one ever missed a meal. Rosa always wanted a small dog but the manager in the motel said "There will be no animals of any sort". Rosa always wished that her life was like the other kids.
"Mama? May I ride my bike" Rosa said in question. She looked at her mother across the table after eating lunch. "Sure, but make sure you don't talk to any strangers. Don't forget to put up your bike when your done. Come home before dark to". Rosa thought to her self, "Why do you always give an essay on what to do? We do this every single say". "Ok Mom love you, and see you before dark". Rosa quickly got up from her chair, and rain to the door. She put on her jacket and ran outside. Her bike was leaning against a pile of freshly cut wood. She grabbed the handle bars and started walking on the side walk when she heard a whine.
She looked around and saw nothing, so she started walking again. Then she heard it again! She was three blocks away from home. She glanced around then saw a dog limping towards her. She dropped her bike and walked to the dog. The dog was a pure beauty. "Well hello, are you ok boy"? Now up close she can tell it was a Hamilton Hound. The only reason why she knows this is because she has a dog breed dictionary. The dog was tri colored and was still puppy by the looks of it. "Do you want to come home with me boy"? The dod wagged his tail. Rosa picked up the dog and put it in the basket of the bike. When they arrived at her room she took the dog out of the basket and put it in the small living room. She went back out side to put her bike up then came up. She looked at the puppy and said "You need a name boy, what about Aaron or Alexander? Wait, what about Auzzie! Yes i like the sound of it. Your new name is Auzzie". Auzzie started walking around the apartment with a limp of his right leg.
Rosa quickly went to the medicine cabinent and got a bandage. She picked up the puppy and wraps his leg. She put him down again and got a bowl of cold water. "I know it's against the rules to have you here but I don't care, your injured and your a puppy. You wouldn't make it out there" Rosa said as to make her feel less guilty. She picked up the dog carefully and went to her room. She put him on her twin bed and got the bowl of water. He was about to jump of the bed but Rosa got him just in time and put him on the floor.
"Rosa! I'm home" she heard her mother say. Was it really 8:00 already? She looked at her black clock and indeed it was. "Hi mom. I'm tired today, I'm going to bed" said Rosa as she got off the bed and walked into the kitchen. She kissed her mother good night and was off. She shut her door and let out a breath of air. Then the puppy barked. "What was that" Rosa's mother said. "Um nothing really, I just tripped over one of my shoes". The door opened and right before she could hide the puppy her mother srieked. "why is there a dog in your room? And why does it have a bandage? Please don't tell me you stole it"! "Of coarse not! It was wounded and needed some water. Mama please can we keep him. We can keep it a secret".
"We don't have to, the manager was fired today and a new one will be here shortly. We can have animals as long as we pay for damages when we move out". Rosa looked at her mother with bewilderment."So we can keep him"? Rosa picked up the dog so her mother could see his gentle face." Having a dog means a lot of reponsibl..." Rosa cut her mother off and said " I promice I will take care of him, and do what ever I need to just to keep him!
ONE YEAR LATER
"Auzzie! Come on boy, time to go on our walk". Just then the two foot dog comes ready for his walk. Rosa opens the door and Auzzie follows. She grabs her bike and rides it slow on the side walk. She couldn't believe she was 13 now. Auzzie was walking beside her bike and just then a black van comes up behind her and the doors open and someone grabs her. She screams so loud the whole neighborhood could her. Auzzie see's what is happening and jump up and bit the guys hand. The man releases Rosa and the dog lets go.
"You saved my life. Thankyou so much" rosa brings the dog close and hugs him and starts crying. The neighbor asks if she is ok and drives her home. When her mom heard what happened she holded tightly to her daughter and petted the dog and said " You are my hero. If you were not there she would've been gone".
Were Rosa and Auzzie joined by luck or was it god's work. Rosa saved Auzzie and Auzzie saved Rosa. Dogs are our heros. They have huge hearts and are very smart.
