When Destiny Strike

Chapter 4

We started the morning with determination, we enter the forest with high confidence which falls miserably with each step we took farther to the belly of the forest. By noon, despite how Shahrukh convinced that we are not lost, I'm positive we are, we've been circling this area for countless time, I swear I've seen that same tree several times. I stomp my feet and slam my butt to the floor, dragging Shahrukh along with me.

We lean on nearby tree, thankfully we stranded in an island full of edible fruits, the problem is, we almost run out of water to drink and we still not found any water source till now, worsened by the fact that we are obviously lost in the labyrinth of the jungle

"We need to do something, I swear I've seen that tree for several times" I told Shahrukh.

"You are exaggerating, how do you tell apart one tree from another?" Shahrukh tried to calm me down and passing me some water

"We have to mark the paths we've walked before, that way, we will know if we walk in circle or not" I say while sipping the water that become much more valuable each time passed. Shahrukh dig through his duffel bag, take out two markers with big grin on his face. I take a marker from him and passed him the water and we started again after he take a sip of the water too, this time with marker in our hands.

We've been walking for hours, my legs hurt so much and I know Kajol also feel the same, I was just about to suggest we take a little break when she grab my arm and said "did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I said, confused

"Water sound" she answer excitedly, we both silence and the water sound heard more clearly now, we cheer happily, all tiredness forgotten while we race to the direction of the water sound.

The first thing we saw is the lake, we race there and throw our self to the clear water that awaits us, it's so refreshing and we started to splashing at each other, Shahrukh played dirty, hugged and dragged me along with him down the water, leaving me gasping for air, I punched his chest and he started to laugh, first true laugh I've heard since the accident and it's contagious, i started to laugh too and we keep on playing in the water like children, throwing away all our tiredness and worry for time being.

We sit on the side of the lake and just realized how beautiful the view is, it has small waterfall and the surrounding is so green. The breeze is starting to make us cold in our drenched clothes, I pulled out a towel and hand it to Kajol, "it's getting cold, go change, you'll go there and I'll go change there" I pointed two different direction to her, but she grabs my hand, "please don't leave me alone" at last we went to change in the same place, back to back. That makes me realize how much she trusts me.

Days went by, we've been walking and walking and we have run out of markers, but still not found anyone besides us in this island. Now our options are left to continue searching with the risks of getting lost again or trace back to the last place we went which have water and food supply, after a lot of consideration, we decided to get back to the lake side, it has plenty of water supply, fruit trees and the location have plenty of open space, in case people who looking for us will do a search with helicopter.

Shahrukh and me build a small sack using scrap woods and leaves, enough as a shelter for us against the cold night wind. As much as I hate this uncomfortable situation we're in, I'm glad he's the one I got stranded with, I'll sleep in his arm every night and feel safe because I know that he will not let anything bad happen to me.

Each night, Kajol will cuddled to me when we sleep and I can't take my eyes of her beautiful and peaceful face sleeping beside me, I realized how much she trusts me now and I feel guilty for actually felt glad we haven't meet anyone and part of me even hoping that we could stay in this island forever, just the two of us.
