That Girl

I'm a girl from Boston, my name is Florence, (I'm a curly brown haired girl with gray stormy eyes who loves to read and loves keeping track of strange magical creatures)

I recently got a letter from Hogwarts accepting me into the school.

I have a secret nobody knows besides my best friend Newt Scamander (you have probably heard of him the guy with case full of magical beast and wrote a book about them) I won't let him tell ANYONE ABOUT IT!!! If he does, let's just say Moondancer won't let him get away with it.

When I was younger I had a friend (never would tell me his name but had blue eyes dirty blonde spiked hair smelled like salt and loved water) who would come visit me in the forest. The forest was large area full of trees, except for in the middle there was a patch of grass and a swing that my friend had brought. Every day at 12:00 A.M the the sun would break through the trees and made a gorgeous ray of light. But the forest isn't just the trees and patch of grass there was a rocky cliff, and the sunset was fabulous.

My friend's house was at the opposite side of the cliff so he came to play whenever he could. We would play till the sun went down. But one day he came and we were playing together, then all of a sudden this rock appears out of nowhere and I trip on it. I fall and examine the rock I note that it was unusually round and polished looking, I get back up and ask my friend if it was his, but then all of the same type of round rocks appear just like the first one I see my friend tripping and trying escape the rocks until he hit his head on a tree. I scream for help as my friend falls lifelessly to the ground.

This is when I meet Newt, he was searching for a beast when he heard my cry for help. We got my friend to the hospital and he survived but I never saw him again. Even though Newt was only 15 (I'm only 11 though) he was able to take care of us. I found out that the silver rock I had was actually a DRAGON EGG! It hatched and when it did I became a dragon rider. "Dragons" Newt said "are typically creatures of death and destruction not bonding creatures."

Newt had been able to swipe a golden egg and is now looking for it's owner. I have only heard of dragons in myths but yet again I can't say myths aren't real, my mom is the goddess Athena. I'm not a goddess myself, I mean I wish I was but I'm not, my dad was a mortal wizard. So technically I'm a demigod. But for a year I taught myself magic from my insignia and bought myself a wand to teach myself that magic too.

Now it's my first day at Hogwarts, Newt bids me farewell and good luck, I head for the train. I sit by myself watch the scenery change, eventually a boy comes by and asks if he can sit with me I nod as he closes the door behind him. I study the boy for a moment and he reminds me the boy I used to play with. The same eyes stare at me with wonder, I break the silence and ask him his name, he says Sam, he asks me mine I say Florence.

We start chatting about our families and Sam says he has never known his family that well he said he remembers his mom a little bit but never knew his dad. I told him I never had a real family besides my friend Newt. I also told him a little bit about my friend in the woods. He seemed surprised and told me he also too had a friend who used to visit him every day but he can't remember where. He said he was in the hospital for a little while, but that's all he could remember. I study him again wondering if he really is the boy in the woods.

The train jumps to a stop as we reach Hogwarts, Sam jolts upward startled by it. He smiles and says see you around. As we reach Hogwarts we are each placed into a  house, I got Hufflepuff so did Sam. He sits next to me and Dumbledore says a few words he's our headmaster. Then a feast appears in front of our eyes one thing about me, that most people don't know as well is that I'm vegetarian and that makes it hard to survive with me out in the wilderness. Everyone dives into delicious feast.

After the feast everyone goes their houses and goes to bed besides for me I stay up watching the fire crackle as I sit wondering what happened to my family and why do I have a pet dragon. Oh my goodness!!!! Moondancer she must be so mad at me! I quickly unzip my suitcase and let Moondancer grow back to full size (she has to shrink to come undetected) I go into my thoughts and listen to her complain about how long she was in there and how I didn't give her any of our meal. I tell her there's much worse I could do to you but that's only one little thing compared to a lot of things.

I hear the door creek I put Moondancer back into my suitcase before anyone can find her then Sam comes out and asks me why I'm up so late I tell him "I just can't fall asleep it's too exciting to be at Hogwarts." He smiles and shyly, turns around and goes to the door of the boys dorms then stops. He turns around again and looks at me and asks in a questioning and nervous tone "you're the girl from the woods, aren't you." I tell him about the boy and he tells me about the girl in the woods. He told me he's been searching for her ever since he went to the hospital but after that he couldn't find her. I hug him and tell him what happened to him after that hit on the head but I don't dare to tell him about Moondancer or my mom Athena not yet maybe soon but I can't trust him just yet. We talk as the night goes on, I start to fall asleep, I think about being reunited with my old friend. I curl up next to the fireplace and fall asleep and Sam does the same next to me.
       
The next morning I wake up to see Sam still asleep on the floor next to me. I yawn, I feel bad for Moondancer because she can't grow to full size because there are other kids and adults in the building. I gently wake up Sam and tell him we've slept in. We both don't care about being late or missing a class or two. We get ready and go to our third class, we head into the hallway and as we walk I hear whispers all around saying "oh my it's that girl" or "the girl with no parents and nobody to lean on lived till 11 it's ridiculous!" All I could think about after that was, "that girl."
