David's POV

I get home and all is quite. That's strange, Avery's usually crying wildly and mom and dad should be running around trying to get ready for their date night.I attentively tiptoe through the living room and up the stairs. That's when I hear Avery quietly babbling, she's probably sleeping.

Sure enough when push open the wooden door mom is resting her the rocking chair that's in Avery's room knocked out with a little ball of a person placed across her chest. I walk over and pick up the baby and place her in her crib. Then I back over to mom and put my hand on her shoulder slowly shaking her into consciousness.

"Huh," Mom grumbles, "Oh hey honey, what time is it?"

"Um, It's 3:15 -"

"It's 3:15!," My mother shouts shooting out of the chair like a rocket on it's way to the moon. "Where's your dad? Omg we're gonna be late! Oh can you go get my shoes sweetheart while I go find your father."

"Yeah sure thing." I reply, swiftly turning around and heading out of Avery's room and to the front door. Great mom tells me to go get her shoes but she forgets to specify which pair. There's a blue pair, a pink pair, one's that look like plastic socks, I think mom calls them flats or something stupid like that, then there's the tennis shoes and red slippers. Okay well let's start with the process of elimination, she's not going out in slippers so that's not what she means. I skip over the plastic sock things because like who would wear those out in public, and now I'm down to the blue or pink pair. I pick up the pink because it's fancier than the blue pair. I scamper up the stairs and into Avery's room and too my surprise the room's empty

"Mom!" I yell, impatiently waiting for mom's response.

"In my room!" She answers back. I'm telling you mom's are scary, they can always read your mind, like the lady knew that I was wondering where she was without me even having to ask. It's kinda cool until you do something wrong and you try to lie and you end up getting in trouble. I enter moms room to find her trying to wake up my dad. I swear the man's part bear, he's sleeping so often he might as well just hibernate, not to mention all the chest hair!

"Honey, I need the flats they go better with my black dress." Mom says looking at the shoes I'm holding.

"Are you talking about the plastic looking sock things, because in my opinion your better off with the pink shoes." I reply trying to save my mother the embarrassment of being seen in public with those things on her feet.

Mom chuckles before answering, "Well I'm gonna take that as you not a flats kinda guy?" She asks still slightly laughing. Ignoring her giggling I turn around to once again descend to the lower level of our house. I grab the 'flats' and fly up the stairs to give to mom. I notice that Dad's finally awake and mom is hurting him to go faster because they're already late. This time it's my turn to laugh at them.

Anyway Dad finally gets ready to go and they both say their goodbyes to me and Avery before heading out the door. I lock the door and go sit on the couch with Avery is my arms. I hope one day I fall in love and do funny things with my wife and still go on dates when I'm 30. It's then that I relies I'm picturing myself with the girl from the alley. She was so beautiful. I look down at Avery and notice she's already back to sleeping. Don't know why I'm surprised at this it's like all she ever does, I guess being a baby really take the energy out of you! I walk up stairs and go into my room and decide to Write a letter to the girl from the alley, so was too scared to have a civil conversation with me so maybe this will work out better.

Here goes nothing,
