"Zayn mate, you made it! I thought you weren't gonna show," Charlie called as he strolled up to me.
"Yeah well I couldn't miss free food eh,"
"Not with you and your appetite, come on in then but mind Sarah, she's got some girl round as well so I guess it's better not to disturb.
I followed Charlie up the staircase and we made our way into his room, one of the biggest in their old country manor house. Charlie was pretty well off and having a loss of parents came the benefit of living in this massive house alone with workers to do everything for you, except there was one downside - Sarah, the most annoying twat out there, his sister.
She could be alright at times, but most of the time she couldn't. But I guess he did have some pretty hot girls known as Sarah's friends round a lot of the time so you could add that to the benefit list.
"Take a seat Z. Here," Charlie said as he threw a controller over to me. I guess the plan for today was video games. After about an hour and twenty minutes of FIFA I soon got a incredibly bored.
"Fancy a game of chess Charlie?"
"Look at you mister nerdy, but eh alright." He left the room and made his way into the dusty storage room to retrieve the unused board game.
After setting out the pieces and arranging the game we started. Chess was my favourite game. I'm not sure why, but something about it got my adrenalin pumping and my mind working. Charlie was not too fond of it but ever since I introduced it to him, he started to like it and would play it with me all the time. 30 minutes had passed and I was very close to winning, my move was planned out and I was just about to go ahead with the checkmate when-
"CHARLIE!" came Sarah's squeaky voice. Groaning at the interruption me and Charlie both stood up ready to go and take the queens orders.
Sarah was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for both of us to attend her needs. I noticed someone behind Sarah trying to hide away from me and Charlie.
"Zayn, take lavender outside with you or something while I talk to my brother," Sarah ordered. I turned to advance towards the garden but not before I heard an obnoxious cough from Sarah.
"Zayn," she looked at me with a slightly intimidating look, "Behave."
I laughed and turned beckoning this girl, lavender I think, to follow me out. Once we were out in the garden I sat down on a bench and turned to take a proper look at this girl. I was stunned, she was gorgeous, but not ordinarily pretty no, she was flawless, beautiful, admirable, a masterpiece.
If only I knew then how deadly her beauty really was
I caught myself staring and tried to fix up myself without creating any suspicion. We sat in an awkward silence before I decided to break it.
"You're quite the stunner aren't you," I smirked, but that smirk soon disappeared after I was greeted with a scoff.
"Excuse me, but I'm afraid I don't mix well with obnoxious twats," she muttered trying to walk past me.
"Hey! You just met me, how are you so sure I'm an 'obnoxious twat'," I replied cheekily trying to mimic her voice. She rolled her eyes and took a seat next to me on the bench. I was rather surprised that she didn't know who I was but to be honest it was great, having someone not know of your hierarchy and wealth. It was a breath of fresh air.
We sat there for a long while just enjoying the scenery of Charlie's great expanse of land. It was a nice day really and it was even nicer having this pretty girl next to me. I don't understand really how someone so delicate could be friends with Sarah. As the silence became more unbearable I felt another need to break it.
"I have a feeling they're going to be in there for a long time... so why don't you tell me a bit about yourself?" I asked trying to get that melodic voice to try and talk to me again.
"Well what do you want to know?"
.
I guess that's what set it all off. That simple conversation we had while waiting for each of our friends to finish squabbling inside. Now that I think about it, I realise just how important that conversation was. Without it we wouldn't be where we are now, but I guess thinking of all the hardship, torture, and pain sometimes it feels like better to go back to then; the easy times of both our lives. Times before all of our problems and misery, even though there were so many things that I'd hate to forget, it does sounds like a nice idea you know, to try and start our game of chess all over.
But that would be boring. So I guess we'll just have to carry on the game from where we are... but before we get to that, why don't we take a look at how the game started in the first place...
