Chapter 1
Testing my Brother with his speed and stability I made the test course massively hard for even the master to fail the course. Eric walked up to the start line and took off he pasted the river jump and woods; I waited for him to get to the Spiked trail. When he went around the corner and saw the spikes he jumped over it all. My jaw dropped as he landed it perfectly. His time was 6.59 seconds to finish a mile course. I stood arms crossed as he walked over to me “Now sis don’t have a frown on your face I passed the test course can we get to the wedding now” he said and took off I could see his brown coat of fur start to form then he jumped up and was full. I was ready to jump up and go when at the boarder a car drove by the scent was different and no heart beat “Their Back” I said angrily and jumped and my gray coat formed on to my slim body. I followed the car to the dark end of the forest I heard a howl from behind me “Anna where have you been?” it was my oldest brother Lue he was all mad and his teeth glared with anger. “You were supposed to be at Mubi’s wedding” he said I lowered my head then looked up “Lue the Cold Skinned are back” I said then he loosened his glare at me and looked at the car. A tall pale man exited the back followed by a short woman and a little girl; the lady looked back at the car and said “Oh come on Damien get out of the car”. Lue and I got ready to pounce at the family when the son got out, my heart stopped. A hooded teen boy stepped out in a black hoodie and ripped jeans I could see his white blond hair hidden in the hood and then he turned his head towards my direction and golden eyes glared. I stepped back into the shadows Lue was about to pounce when I stopped him “Don’t it will attract more of them if we kill them now” I said Lue seemed surprise to hear me back down from an opportunity like that. Lue walked away and I followed, we got back to the pack grounds I laid down next to the fire and all I could see was those golden eyes looking at me. “What troubles you Anna” Chris a beta ask me I looked up at him “Nothing” I said and put my furry head to the side. He poked me with his wet nose and I giggled “Come on go see Mubi she just got married” he said then left I rolled on to my back. I saw her and her husband over next to Ma and Aunt Becka, when it comes to those sisters the world would be burning in flames the way they argue over anything. I trudged over to Mubi and she smiled “Oh Anna where were you” she asked me and moved her wedding dress to wear I could sit next to her “My your small in human form sis” I told her she smiled. ”But that doesn’t tell me why you didn’t show up” she said with a deep tone I was forced to tell her that the cold skinned are back in town, she held her husband’s hand “And on my wedding day, Can’t get any worse can it” she said. Knowing Mubi she’s always ready for a fight “Kendal I have to get out of this dress just in case” she told her husband and got up and left for the house. When my Ma saw me she yelled “Oh sweet Jesus Annabeth what did I say about shifting and not having clothes nearby” I put my head down and Kendal laughed “don’t let her get to you” he said. I put my head on his lap “You don’t know her as well as I do” I said and he patted my head. I walked at the house then got tackled by Blake the boy who my Ma wants me to be with. I got on to my feet and bit his ear taking him down he fell on to his back I stood over him pining him down. The sick thing he did was turn back and he was naked. I jumped back and ran in to the house I got to my room in the basement and turned back I got dressed “Oh he makes me sick what does my mom see in him” I said sitting on my bed thinking of the reason why. A voice came into my head “Mom just leave me alone….. No I don’t want to go with you guys to the gala…. I’m not little anymore” it said I was wondering whose voice was in my head it wasn’t a familiar voice it was different. I soon fell asleep when the party upstairs died down I curled up on my bed and feeling every inch of coldness touch my skin.
The sun light poured in threw the window and I knew it wouldn’t last for long. I smelled Ma’s famous apple cider and pancakes being made up stairs I jumped up the stairs and ran to the table, I was the first to the table before my brothers. Now I was the only sister left after Mubi left for her honey moon. Soon Lue, Martin, Bobby, Jed, Eric, Zakiya, and little Caleb would come down all hungry and eat all the food, but only Caleb came down. But it seemed quiet and that no one else was upstairs “Ma where are the boys” I asked her she just pointed out to the woods, I knew it Lue would go back to the cold skinned home and kill them. I jumped out of my seat and out the back door, I ran past the test course and to the dark part of the forest. Out in the distance I saw them closing in on the house ready to barge in and kill. When I saw Lue make a face of confusion I had to believe they weren’t home. The sun died down into the clouds and I smelled blood and so could my brothers. They took off in the direction and turned all furry, I wanted to follow them but I was going to be late for school. I headed back home and grabbed my book bag and Caleb to take him to elementary school.
