Chapter one

"Hey guys it's Cali, here again with Alisha James!" I chirped to my camera.

Alisha and I had known each other since we were 4, and we were partners in crime since. You've always been causing mischief, our first 'big' crime was in first grade when we let the class pets, 13 frogs, out in the hallway. 10 years later we are still best friends and In high school. I had made a YouTube channel and started uploading Beauty Tutorials, and even challenge videos with Alisha and my now ex boyfriend, Jake. Jake had moved to Texas with his parents and I didn't like the idea of a long distance relationship, so we split things off.

Now it's Thursday, when I usually film a video with Alisha. We had decided to do a 'full face using only food' challenge video today. It matched my beauty videos that I usually uploaded on Sunday's, so we went with it.

"Today we're doing Full face makeup using only food!" Alisha chipped to the camera. "This counts as next weeks beauty Video, so I hope you like it!"

After a few hours of filming we were both worn out, so Alisha headed home and I started editing.

After about half an hour the video was posted. My channel had 1.9 million subscribers, and 156k of them had already watched my video and liked it within 10 minutes.

My phone started ringing from beside me, and I answered it. "Hello, is this Cali Caniff?" An unfamiliar voiced asked.

"Yes it is, if I may ask, who is this?" i responded.

"This is Jane Fairland, I'm one of the owners of the YouTube studio in Los Angeles. I was wondering if you'd like to come in and talk about your channel with us?"

"Yes, I would love to!" I shouted, trying to play it cool but failing.

"Great! You're from Colorado, correct?"

"Yes again!"

"Great, how about flying out to see us next Saturday? We will pay for your flight and arrange for someone to pick you up from the airport. Sound good to you?"

"Yes it does, maybe you should call my mother to explain to her further?" I gave her my moms number.

"Thank you very much! We'll email you more on it and call your mother as soon as possible, have a nice day!" She chirped.

"You too, thank you!" I said back before hanging up. I ran to my closet and pulled out a few suitcases then set them on my bed. Then I ran back to my closet to grab clothes to shove them into one of them. After they were packed I called Alisha to share the news.
